Greetings
So I decided it was more important to enjoy life. The best that people can do here on earth is to eat, drink, and enjoy life, because these joys will help them do the hard work God gives them on earth.
Ecclesiastes 8:15 (NCV)
Ministry can be rewarding for sure. Jesus calls us to share love, uplift others, and change the world. The task is very exciting, but it can also be difficult. When I grew up, I never equated church and fun very often. In college, our associate pastor told me that God wants us to enjoy life and celebrate in food, fellowship, and community. We can have a blast with one another as a way to reenergize for the hard work that often faces us as people of faith.
Two events are approaching which will be GREAT FUN! This Saturday, October 6, we will gather at the church building at 8:30am to unload pumpkins. Many people have told me it will be great fun (I am trusting), and I am planning to be there for the whole thing as we have fun together in community. The following Saturday, October 13, is Harvest Fest with all kinds of crafts, food, petting zoo, etc. We offer a celebration to our community. It is another opportunity for you to come and enjoy these beautiful fall days and to celebrate the Kingswood community!
I know life can be very demanding, but I challenge myself and each of you to take some time off and have fun...for yourself, for your friends, and for your family.
God's Peace,
Pastor James |
