Greetings
They devoted themselves to the apostle's teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.
Acts 2: 42
For several years, I participated in a retreat with friends at an old farmhouse near Mount Carroll, IL. We prayed, studied, worshiped, and rested. My favorite part was the meal time. Every meal lasted a long time as we laughed, cried, debated, and talked, sharing food and drink together. I still miss that retreat!
Acts 2 is the amazing story of Pentecost and the coming of the Holy Spirit. There are tongues of fire, blowing wind, and a global worship celebration. Yet in the end, the church gathered to learn, worship, pray, eat and fellowship together.
As a way to deepen our connection, we are offering several Fall Fellowship Groups. The groups will be a time to meet me in a deeper way, to share our dreams and visions, and to fellowship. I invite you to sign up for a group and join us for this amazing time of being the church. You can call the church office for more information at 847.398.0770 or email office@kingswoodumc.com. I look forward to seeing you!
God's Peace,
Pastor James

Endowment Endeavors
Did you know that the Endowment Committee has awarded several grants to Kingswood projects this year? Part of the funds committed to the Endowment program are used within 3 years for special projects. In 2012, three projects were supported:
- $3,180 to the New Beginnings Thrift Store,
- $2,000 to support this year's Scholarship recipients, and,
- $350 to fund books on the library cart.
That's a total of $5,530 for projects sponsored by one of the many committees within Kingswood.
What all three of these projects had in common was a request. That's right - just a request! Do you know of a special project that merits attention? If so, all you need to do is contact one of our many Kingswood committees and ask them to sponsor the project. Request forms will be made available later this fall for 2013 funding requests. |
