Greetings
You teach me the way of life. In your presence is total celebration. Beautiful things are always in your right hand.
Psalm 16: 11
Since childhood, I have loved parades. I love the bands, the floats, the performers, and the joy connected to a parade. God is all about celebration. God wants us to enjoy life and one another. The Bible is full of processions, parades, and festivals. Beauty, joy, and even fun should be a part of our daily lives. Parades create a sense of joy as they move along a route, people cheering along the way.
This Sunday, we have a great opportunity to participate in the Buffalo Grove Days Parade. Kingswood UMC and our Scout troop will have a float designed to share joy, celebrate, and have fun! You can help us "uplift hearts" by doing one or more of the following:
- Attend the parade and shout for us as we pass along the route.
- Help us decorate and create our float on Saturday, September 1, at 11:00am at the church.
- Walk with the float on Sunday, September 2, and help pass out candy and wave.(Waving is critical!) We will meet on Indian Hills south of Raupp. Contact the church office for more information. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS!
- Pray for the parade, our community, and our participation.
- Stop by and visit our Kingswood Bake Sale group as well at BG Days!
In God's presence is total celebration! Join us this Sunday in worship and at the parade to rejoice in what God is doing in our lives and in our community.
In Christ,
Pastor James |

WELCOME BACK SUNDAY IS
SEPTEMBER 9, 2012
WELCOME BACK SUNDAY is almost here. Join us for this church-wide celebration which will occur in both the 9:00am and 10:30am services. There will be a great fellowship time between services and a church-wide potluck after the 10:30am worship service. Please sign up for the potluck in the Fireside Room following services or contact the Church office.
We are asking each child and youth to wear their new backpack so we can bless backpacks. We are also asking for donations of new backpacks for school children in Chicago. They will be distributed through Humboldt Park UMC in Chicago. We will also bless school teachers and school workers during both services as well as recognize our outstanding church staff. In addition, we will be participating indirectly with the United Methodist Seeds to Succeed witness (for more information, please visit www.seedstosucceed.org).. Watch for more information....
AND INVITE a friend that Sunday!

at Buffalo Grove Days!

New Beginnings Thrift Shop Updates
Our sidewalk sale was a success! Not only did we reduce our inventory and raise almost $600 but we connected with many families in the community! As a result, we are now in need of more donations!
Remember, we take furniture, household items, sporting equipment, tools, and much more! We do not accept clothing or shoes. If you want to save them for the rummage sale in May, that would be great; otherwise, we can help you find other places to donate them.
And don't forget to take a look as some new items on our website, www.newbeginningsthriftshop.org. We recently received a sectional, a charming outdoor patio mat, some new lamps, children's bike helmets, and a Little Tykes picnic table!
Our storage unit is open every Sunday from 10-10:30 am for donations or to make purchases. Just email us at thriftshop@kingswoodumc.com!!
