Practicing Extravagant Generosity:
Daily Readings on the Grace of Giving
October 20, 2011

Greetings!

Bev Modlin

I have learned to be content with whatever I have.  I know what it is to have a little, and I know what it is to have plenty ... I can do all things through him who strengthens me.

Philippians 4:11-13

In Philippians 4:11-13 Paul is telling the people of Philippi that he has learned to be content whether  he has enough or not, because he has faith in God.

I cannot remember a time when I felt deprived of anything important.  I am sure, as a child, that there was a time when I wanted something I did not get, but it was certainly not necessary.  I have never been one to wish for a lot of material things.  I seek out the sales and bargains, especially in this day and age.

Our biggest "bargain" is given without cost.  God offers unconditional love without asking anything of us.  We so often forget that this great gift is always available to us.  We are made in God's image and we work through Him. We must believe in God and have faith in order to be content with ourselves and with what we have.

In order to be content we need to pray daily, share our love  and blessings with those less fortunate, and know that God will provide.

Blessings,
