The Gift to Give

 Dave Gerhardt

1 Timothy 6:18-19

As children growing up we were always taught to put a little change in the collection plate. A quarter or two would suffice. A whole dollar would be a stretch. As we matured, we were instructed to give 10% of our earnings. Most of us still strive to achieve this accomplishment. In 1 Timothy we are told ' to do good, to be rich in good works, generous, and ready to share,....... so that we may take hold of the life that really is life.' As I have spiritually matured through our church, I have learned that giving is much more than 10%. Giving comes from the heart and soul. It is not only monetary but also helping others who are in need. God has blessed us with the capabilities and reserves to do this. A Gift from Him which we should not neglect. Feel the joy of this Gift for the Glory of God and take satisfaction in it.

Keep this in mind the next time you are ready to use your Gift: Give unto others as you would give unto yourself.

Blessings,

Dave Gerhardt
