Luke PepperGreetings!

Thoughts from Luke

Matthew 18:15-20: 18:20 For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them."

"Kick Off Season" is now in full swing! From the start of school & sports to praise band & puppet ministry kick off parties to Sunday School & bible study we are gearing up for the fall! The energy that we have built up over the summer months has now met up with the busy-ness of school, work, and life, which will likely create a hectic, yet exciting September.

Often times this is where a minister would caution you to take time to relax and find moments of Sabbath during these busy times, which you definitely should, but I think there is some more advice to be given.

In the lectionary text from the Gospel of Matthew for this weekend we read these words from Jesus, "For where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them." In this season where church activities begin to ramp up and things get a little too hectic and stressful; remember that Jesus is present in our midst seeking to enrich our lives with the love of God. Jesus is the cause of the joy and excitement we get when we are gathered with others in worship and church activities. So although I hope you take time to enjoy some moments of rest in the next few weeks also consider taking time to rejoice in the energy of the Holy Spirit in and around us as we gather together.

Blessings,

Luke

Welcome to Rev. Min Woo and the people of the Yang Moon Korean United Methodist Church

Reverend Woo

We are excited to welcome Yang Moon Korean UMC to the campus of Kingswood UMC. Yang Moon is a United Methodist congregation that has been worshipping at the Salem UMC in Barrington for several years. They are moving to Kingswood to join us in being God's presence through the United Methodist Church in Buffalo Grove and to be closer to the Korean-American population in this area.  Rev. Min Hyuk Woo is their full time appointed pastor ... and was welcomed as a full member of the Northern Illinois Conference this year as an Elder, transferring from Detroit Conference.  He has served at Yang Moon for three years.   Rev. Woo and Rev. Gramley are excited and eager to build bridges between the two congregations.

Scholarship Recipients Send Their Thanks

I would like to thank you for choosing me as a scholarship recipient. I am so glad I have been able to be an active member of Kingswood. I just wanted to write and thank you for deciding to award me with a scholarship again this year.  It looks like everything is settling down here in Bloomington as eveyone gets ready for another year and I would like to thank you all for helping me be able to come back for another year as well.  Not only for providing financial support to me in my college endeavors, but for being the supportive community of faith that I have grown up in and have known since I can remember. Sincerely, Keanan Koppenhaver - Class of 2014
