Greetings!
A Word from the Pastor
2011 Confirmation
The 10 Confirmands will be confirmed in this coming Sunday 10:30 am service. Please join me in congratulating them. They have worked hard and taken the class seriously. Here is the list of what they did in the class: Confirmation Retreat (October), Regular Class (Most Wednesday nights, Jan through May), Field Trips to ethnic United Methodist Churches, Holy Week Services, Special Olympics, Food Collection and Lock-In, Kirk Craft, 20 Service Hours, Sunday School Attendance 10 times, Mentor Relationship, Question Projects, Interviews with the Pastors.
Personally, I thank all teachers, mentors, and parents. Without your help, it is impossible to come to this moment. You help in so many ways when I ask you to do things that need to be done. Your faithfulness and commitment will be a good model for these young Christians. The following letter is written by me for the 10 Confirmands, from my heart.
Confirmation is a journey to find who you are in God. In your faith journey you are not alone. All of us support, talk, and walk with you. That is why we need community, especially the faith community which is Church. As God promises to be with us, we will be in joy and sorrow together, no matter what happens in our life. Our church, your friends, teachers, and parents will be there for you. This is a long and joyful journey with beloved people who are surrounding you. Keep focus on a right relationship with God in every single moment. That helps you find your identity in God through Jesus Christ. I believe that God will give you strength and wisdom even though your journey sometimes seems to be rough. Hold on to God. If you do, the Holy Spirit dwells in your heart. And with the power of the Holy Spirit, you can live, love, and serve as Jesus did. I hope that you will live with intention in relationship to God, others, and the church. Don't forget that Confirmation is not the ending point, but a starting point. All of us are in a relationship with God that can grow and deepen so that we are going toward perfection. We never stop learning how to be more fully Christian. I pray, Carter, Alex Bryan, Emily, Quentin, Alex Dugan, K.J, Sarah, Ryan, Lyndsey, and Kenny, may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in God, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
God's Blessings,
Rev. Sang Hun Han

s Summer Interfaith Reading Group on June 1 at Beth Am at 7pm!!!
An opportunity for thoughtful discussion, this series brings together members of Kingswood and the Beth Am communities to discuss books on spiritual topics. In June we will discuss two books: The Reluctant Pilgrim by Enuma Okoro and Devotion by Dani Shapiro. Both are spiritual memoirs. Okoro, the daughter of Nigerian parents who grew up mostly in New York, details her journey as a Christian. Shapiro ... also a New Yorker ... tells of her relationship with her Orthodox Jewish father and the journey she is on to reclaim her roots and a spiritual path that makes sense for her. Their stories are similar in many ways, and yet quite different. Sometimes irreverent, sometimes deeply moving, both books provide ways to think about the journey we are all on as people seeking to live lives of faith and meaning. Rabbi Bellows and Rev. Gramley will share their perspectives on these books, and together they will lead the group in discussion. Copies of Reluctant Pilgrim and Devotion will be available Sunday or are in the office during the week. Please join us.
And if you have read both of these and want to read ahead, for July 6 we'll discuss The Faith Club by Ranya Idliby, Suzanne Oliver and Priscilla Warner. It tells the story of three women --- a Muslim, A Christian, A Jew --- searching for understanding. This book should arrive soon.

This is his Eagle project and he has been working for several months making plans, getting approval and learning about prayer labyrinths.
