March 31, 2011

Greetings!

A Word from the Pastor

On March 16, our confirmation class had a chance to experience the Labyrinth. This was the second time for me to walk the Labyrinth. This year the confirmands walked faster than last year. I was wondering if the Labyrinth meant anything to them. Without meditation on God, they seemed  to easily ignore the true meaning of the Labyrinth while they were walking. I hope that some of them received a good experience that will allow them to be close to God when they live their daily lives.

For me, this year's experience of the Labyrinth was better than last year's. One of the reasons was that the more experiences I have, the more comfortable I am, and the more meaning I receive from those experiences. When I walked through the path in the Labyrinth, I felt that I was walking with God and that God was with me while I was in the path. I knew that if I followed the path, I would get to the rest area where I could meditate and pray. There was no fear or anxiety in which we are struggling with our direction. What I did in the Labyrinth was just following the path. Sometimes the path seemed to be crooked and without any short-cuts. But the good thing was that there was always a road to get to the point where we should go.

Likewise, our life has a road even though we walk through the valley of the shadow of death as Psalm 23 proclaims. Because the Lord is my Shepherd. The Lord wants to have a close relationship with us. That relationship leads us to God, who prepares a table. The table is symbolic of our fellowship with God. In the most troubled times, our source of joy comes from our fellowship with God. The Lord, our shepherd, calls us to a relationship. If we are in a relationship with God, we will get the joy we desperately seek. In this Lenten season, why don't we find and get the greatest joy in God who prepares a table in the presence of our enemies?

Lenten Study led by Rev. Sang Hun Han

Tuesdays, March 15 through April 19 at 7pm in the Library

Thursdays, March 17 through April 21 at 10am in room 115

 Sign up this Sunday.

Walk with Jesus on his final day. Sit beside him at the Last Supper. Pray

with him in Gethsemane. Follow him to the cross. Desert him. Deny him.

Experience the Resurrection. This class is to help you better understand the

events that occurred during the last 24 hours of Jesus' life, see more

clearly the theological significance of Christ's suffering and death, and

reflect upon the meaning of these events for your life.

No single event in human history has received more attention than the

suffering and crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth. The book we'll study, 24

Hours That Changed the World, by Adam Hamilton, is designed to help you experience and understand the significance of Jesus' suffering and death in a way you never have before.

Whether you are a longtime Christian or simply curious about the story of

Christ's crucifixion, you are invited to join us on this inspiring journey.
