Summer 2011 News Update

David Vane

Well I did say that the social media scene is changing rapidly and just this week we heard about the launch of Google's version of social media facebook - Google + (see article)

I have been very busy with our own  Social Media Connect  which provides a distribution tool for broadcasting your message to the main social media tools - Twitter, Facebook, Linkedin etc.

I have also been active on the 4networking breakfast circuits with a number of different 4 sights about social media, linkedin etc. If you don't know 4N yet then have a look at

www.4networking.biz

and come along to a meeting. It is great fun and the way to find new business and colleagues!

I also attended the launch of Business Solent last week. Those who live in Southampton area will know of the popularity and support for Sally Lynskey and her team at busienss Southampton and this has now been extended to the Solent region. It is an exciting project which will hopefully highlight the benefits of working, living, studying and playing in the Solent region. See www.businesssolent.com

Google Launch Google +

Google is challenging Facebook domination by unveiling a new project called Google+ that it says will try to make online sharing more like real life.

Google

More than a year in the works, Google+ lets users share things with smaller groups of people through 'circles'. This means only university friends, workmates, or families - but not necessarily all at once - would be able to see photos, links or updates.

Another feature called 'sparks' aims to make it easier to find online content you care about, whether fishing or recipes. That can then be shared with friends who might be interested in it. In an online video, Google calls it "nerding out" and exploring a subject together.

Introducing...

Each time I send out a news letter I want to introduce one

of my fellow 4N members. This time it is Simon Whitbread from Allsorts Consulting . Here is what he says -

Whether it is help with effective business planning; helping you with your own personal development; training on things like time management, effective meeting chairing or decision making; or supporting you on your leadership development journey Allsorts Consulting can help you reach your goals and develop and grow your business.

Business Coaching for individuals and small businesses in Southampton, Winchester, Bournemouth, Portsmouth, Salisbury and the surrounding areas.

and finally...

If you have any clients who would like to dispose of their old computers, monitors, printers etc there is an organisation in Southampton called Jamie's Computers who train local unemployed and disavantaged people to recycle and rebuild computers. These are then sold locally or to third world countries. They are having an IT amnesty on Saturday 23rd July at ASDA Chandlers Ford so bring along your old equipment and help a worthy cause!

Please forward this to any colleagues or friends who you might think would be interested. Thank you
