Dear Families,
As the 2's Club students focus on shape identification through art exploration and creative movement, I would like to highlight one of the most important shapes at the New York Kids Club: the teacher-child-parent triangle. We pledge to inform parents about student progress, and we encourage you, in return, to share reactions and suggestions so that we can maximize the students' experiences. I hope you've had an opportunity to speak with your child's teachers regarding their progress during the beginning weeks of class. We welcome every opportunity to celebrate their successes and encourage open discussions often between you and your child's instructors throughout the year!
Our students will be focusing on triangles, circles, squares, octagons and rectangles. During the first art project, students will collaborate to create a group mural, using large shape stampers. This activity allows for self-expression and promotes identification of both shapes and colors.
Please send photographs of your child and your family to class this week, as the second art project of the week will be personalized placemats! This fun art activity will remain in class and will be used during cooking and snack time each day for the remainder of the semester.
This week students will have fun with clay during sensory time. Cooperative learning skills are encouraged as the class sculpts and adds texture to their clay creations. Reminder: art and sensory activities presented in class may get messy. We encourage you to send your child to class in clothes that are comfortable and easy to wash.
In the gym children enjoyed their first opportunity to jump individually on the tumble track and continued to work on basic fundamentals of gymnastics, such as forward rolls.
As the fall weather seems to be quickly approaching us, we wanted to inform you of our health and wellness policy. Please do not bring your child to the New York Kids Club if they are showing any signs of illness including a runny nose, cough or fever. The New York Kids Club reserves the right to deny a sick child participation in classes or open play sessions.
I look forward to seeing you soon.
Sincerely,
 Gair Morris Director
