Week of Sepember 19th, 2011 |

Dear Parents,
Apples are the main theme this week as fall finally arrives. The students will enjoy creating apple trees using different materials to create the trunk, the leaves and the apples. Tearing, shredding and collaging paper will be a new process oriented art form to look forward to.
Sorting will be the main classroom activity this week. Children will be asked to identify animal and food shapes by color and type. They will then sort them into giant circles on the floor. This exercise develops cognitive learning skills and the ability to match similar items. We will also be focusing on working as a group and taking turns during sensory time.
Our special snack treat this week will include making dips for sliced apples. Mixing vanilla yogurt with a little cinnamon makes this week's apple snack both healthy and fun.
Each gym class this week begins with cleaning (sorting) up a "mess" of multi-colored balls. The children really enjoying this task as it promotes teamwork and color recognition. The students also enjoy adult themes such as cleaning and washing up after snack and throwing their cups and napkins away. Everyone is gaining greater independence every week!
Thank you for being a part of the New York Kids Club family and for entrusting your children to us. I look forward to seeing you all this week.
Sincerely,
 Gair Morris Director |
