Dear Parents,
This week, our 2's Club students are practicing the ability to categorize a set of objects by figuring out what makes them the same and what makes them different. Comparing things to one another is one of the important steps towards critical thinking and problem solving. To foster these analyzing skills, we will categorize light objects and heavy objects. After instructors place a variety of items in a brown paper bag, students will have to guess what might be in the bag based on its weight. Is it a feather or an egg shaker?
In preparation for our art project this week, we will discuss various kinds of cats and what makes them different. House cats are much smaller than jungle cats, but there are differences even among jungle cats: tigers have stripes, panthers are all black, and leopards have spots! We will continue exercising our analytical skills as students work on body part identification as well as animal identification and categorization. In this week's art unit, students will create cats out of stuffed brown paper bags, adding colorful spots with dot paints and gluing on eyes, ears, and a tail.
As we enter the middle of the semester, we remind you to secure your child's space in our fall Early Enrichment Center as many of the location's classes are almost filled. We offer two, three, and five day-a-week 2-hour options. Please feel free to speak with your Location Manager or myself with any questions regarding this program which begins September 12th.
