SUMMER CAMP NEWSLETTER
July 11th, 2011
With summer upon us, what better way to jumpstart our imaginations than with a book? This year's Summer Adventure Camp theme is Classic Children's Literature and each week campers will crack open a new world, cooking, dancing, singing and playing their way through some of the greatest stories ever written.

Despite a full day of fun and games, it can often be difficult for a child to answer an open ended question like "What did you do at camp today?"  With that in mind, we have provided a few highlights from the week to open up the conversation between you and your camper.

WEEK 6

Peter Pan

"If growing up means it would be beneath my dignity to climb a tree, I'll never grow up, never grow up, never grow up! Not me!"

  •   "Second star to the right and straight on til morning."  What was the best part of Neverland? The Mermaid Lagoon? Captain Hook's ship? Did you survive walking the plank?

  • "En garde!" We practiced our fencing moves in the gym but can your camper name the three basic moves of the sport?

  • What creatures or characters did you create behind the shadow screen? Were you able to catch your own shadow?

  • Snack time is high tea time as we make our own Tinkerbell tea sandwiches. What sort of spread did you use with the cucumber?

  • Captain Hook could tell you that crocodiles can float, but what else is buoyant? We explore floating vs. sinking with our handmade boats. Did your boat sink or swim? Do you think Hook's hook would float?
