With summer upon us, what better way to jumpstart our imaginations than with a book? This year's Summer Adventure Camp theme is Classic Children's Literature and each week campers will crack open a new world, cooking, dancing, singing and playing their way through some of the greatest stories ever written.
Despite a full day of fun and games, it can often be difficult for a child to answer an open ended question like "What did you do at camp today?" With that in mind, we have provided a few highlights from the week to open up the conversation between you and your camper. |

WEEK 4
Journey to the Center of the Earth

- What was the biggest challenge in the Inner Earth gym circuit this week? The lava pit? Rock wall? Maze? Mammoth mushrooms?
- NYKC vs. The Volcano. What materials did we use to create our volcanoes in art? What name did your camper choose for this towering beast: Mount ________?
- Our modern dancers get elemental the gym as we explore the different movement qualities of classical elements. Have your camper name them (water, fire, earth, air) and show you the different moves they developed for each one.
- Who knew the earth could be so tasty? Ask your camper how many layers were in the Layers of the Earth snack. If the inner core was the corn, which ingredient represented the crust?
- Lizards, and monsters, and crocs, oh my! What creatures did you encounter in the underground sea? How did you defend your boat?
