Greetings!
In a meditation recently, I recalled the earliest time I remembered being pure bliss in my body. I was 2 years old, dancing on a train somewhere in Brazil.
I asked for advice from this little one, this little version of me that still freshly remembered it's nature as Source energy and she was jiggling her entire body in utter excitement. Her advice was simple, "You get to dance!"
The joy I felt from her was pure appreciation and delight. It was amazing that I hadn't received that message until my late 30's. I had always felt freedom when I danced, but it wasn't until I recalled her message that I found the dance I had been looking for my whole life.

Why It's Healing To Unleash Your Inner Showgirl!
When I saw my friend Kellita dance for the first time at Bimbo's in North Beach, I had to pick up the bottom of my mouth from the floor.
I had known her amongst a circle of friends but had yet to witness her dance. She was a ray of golden light on that stage. Her entire body sparkled literally and figuratively and I knew at that moment that I wanted to do something similar.
And lo and behold, Kellita is the founder of Hot Pink Feathers, voted by the Bay Guardian as the Best Dance Company in 2008. Enrolling in her class is a ONCE (but definitely not only) in a lifetime experience that my soul wanted. but I didn't even know existed.
It would make sense though that it could arrive only now, in this generation, with this woman, as a Beloved practice for all women. Women of all ages, sizes, dance levels can join in and become the shining, glitzy, love light that they are.
I had the pleasure of taking showgirl technique as well as Hot Pink Feather choreography and performing with the troop one evening a few weeks ago at a dance club. It was hands down one of the most enlivening, liberating, exhilarating experiences of my life. It was unbelievable the amount of love that was showered at us (by mostly screaming, appreciative women no less!)
And I had no idea how good my body would feel every time I went to class (and mind you I'm the heaviest I've ever been). The way Queen Kellita teaches honors each woman's inner jewel (her heart) as well as other parts of her anatomy. You learn how to walk with presence, how to "arrive", how to dance with unabashed enthusiasm and joy.
And she is starting a new series next week which I can't recommend enough. You'll learn saucy moves & choreographies from the reigning Queen of Carnaval SF, Kellita herself and the opportunity to dance in the Grand Carnaval Parade in SF on Sunday May 24th!
She provides the soaring and pulsating live brass and percussion of the Hot Pink Feathers All-Star Marching Band, clothes you in a glorious costume, and supports you every step of the way!
