Greetings!
Hello Beloved One!
What a yummy month...Drew and I have now coined the language we speak together Yummese. It's a blend of oohs, yums and odd purring noises. Basically words don't suffice so we beam and make yummy noises at each other. It started because when I'm particularly happy I tend to be speechless but filled with affection. I have an ear to ear grin and the urge to make googly noises overcomes me. He's begun to understand the language and now is fluent himself.
And it was probably so yummy because this month is my Birthday month. Yes, month. I don't know anyone that loves to celebrate their birthday as much as I do. There were years when I was young when I felt guilty for wanting a big celebration and now, it's about the sacredness of incarnation, of being present on this beloved planet of ours, of learning how to receive the abundance of love that is available at all times but with no guilt, no shame, just a pure YES of beauty, romance and gratitude. I've learnt over the years why this is an attribute of the divine feminine, where abundance is a natural occurrence stemming from celebration and gratitude.
You can read all about why in my article "Which One is Better, to Give or To Receive" below.
And a last minute reminder! Manifesting Your Beloved is coming to Marin!!! There are a few spots July 28, 29th.
If you have someone in mind who you'd think would benefit from the weekend please forward them this email!
As I've been following up with past attendees, I've been hearing story upon story of romance, synchronicity, and blossoming. It has been so very rewarding to hear! Please keep in touch and if you have questions or insights you'd like to share, please email them to me at Cynthia@manifestingyourbeloved.com.
I'll answer at least 1 question per newsletter.
Also, a good friend Shelley Hodgen is teaching a class on intuition at One Taste in August, you can find out more info below!
Many beloved Blessings to you and yours!

Which One is Better, to Give or to Receive?
I turned over and Drew was already out of bed. He's an earlier riser
than me, but I frowned hoping that we could linger a bit in bed on my
birthday (July 12th) morning. Admittedly, he was taking the next four days off to
celebrate with me and I knew he was making his best effort to get as
much done before we left that afternoon for a show in the city.
So I jumped out of bed, took a shower and got dressed, putting on a
rich new plum colored top, and was about to run downstairs when I
bumped into him almost spilling the coffee from the breakfast tray he
carried. Disheveled, still in his bathrobe, Drew had brought up Dutch
Baby pancakes that he had whipped up from a recipe replete with fresh
apricot compote made from apricots a friend had brought us from the
night before.
My salivating mouth dropped open.
No one had ever made me "breakfast in bed".
I immediately undressed, jumped back into bed and was served one of the
most delicious pancakes I had ever eaten. The quickest way to my heart is definitely through my stomach...so I was a puddle of love...and the breakfast was GOOD too. Not to mention the present of a 2 WEEK VACATION to the CARIBBEAN in February!
...at 4 pm, when I thought, sheez what more could a girl ask for...we left for the city and I had intuitively guessed a few days
prior that he would be taking me to Teatro Zinzanni. When I asked him
if that was indeed where we were going, he had the most interesting
grimace. It's the equivalent of not so gently prying open a wrapped present. I took away the joy of Drew getting to watch my wondrous surprise as I stepped out of the car to the red carpet and dancing ladies. I've promised not to do
it anymore.
What I didn't look into was how good the show was going to be. I
expected a second rate Cirque du Soleil but was pleasantly stupefied.
It was incredible, most of the performers having performed at Cirque du
Soleil and top shows all around the world. They interacted with the
audience all night in an intimate theater in the round setting. There
was a breath taking vertical tango danced along a pole that reached the
tent's ceiling, a hilarious illusionist with his cheeky and sexy live
doll, a hauntingly lyrical aerial dancer and so much more.
I left thoroughly enamored with the evening and the magic it inspired and was secretly thrilled that there would be more the next day...
... the next morning we got goodies together for a BBQ up at
Hog Island Oysters near Point Reyes. Unlike Mark Twain's famous saying,
"the coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco", Point Reyes
that day was positively balmy. And since we were there on a Friday it
was virtually empty. We had our pick of tables right on the water of
Tomales Bay. We grilled fresh corn, mixed together some organic
heirloom tomato, basil and buffalo mozzarella salad and ate enough
oysters to make the otters jealous. I think my friend was a bit scared
of what we'd do with all that energy...
...we went for a hike in Tennessee Valley and saw Harry Potter to her relief.
And there's more. The next day we spent the morning walking along my
favorite secret paths in Berkeley. There are hundreds of them around the city, some built hundreds of years ago, now tucked away behind homes, with incredible views, and overgrown vines.
We then
met up with friends at Oliveto's one of my favorite restaurants in
Rockridge for dinner. Being treated as the Birthday girl, it was not exactly an inexpensive meal for my friends and afterwards they
had suggested that we go to the Fire Arts Festival in Oakland. Again a pricey event. I found myself beginning to feel uncomfortable that my friends would
have to pony up so much for a night out. I iterated as much and
everyone looked at me concerned. A dear friend said, "but it would give us joy
to do this with you."
So off we went to the Fire Arts Festival put on by the Crucible. As it
turns out we hadn't bought tickets in advance so we waited in a very
long line for over two hours (watching the whole thing from the other
side of the wire fence). By the time we were only 8 people form the
front, the fire marshals stopped ticket sales. My wish of not making it
a financial burden for others was granted and we all agreed that we all
got the benefit of seeing it from all angles just by waiting in line.
...but wait there's more. . . The next day, my dear girlfriend gifted
me with an amazing painting she had just finished for me, and when Drew
came to pick me up, I turned around to find him holding more presents
in his hand, new yoga clothes and a jewelry box that held within it a
gold necklace featuring a Venetian glass heart glittering gold and
pink.
At that moment, strangely enough, I found my body beginning to
contract. There was a voice that came up and said, "this is too much".
Or rather as my friend Jacquelyn Aldana would say the "itty bitty
committee" said "this is too much."
I actually felt like I didn't deserve this much doting, this attention, this complete devotion to my happiness. I noticed my emotions detaching and all of a sudden the image of an old childhood friend flashed before me. When I was young, because I loved her so much, I would shower her with gifts. I just seemed to find so many things that she appreciated and I wanted to see her happiness of opening up presents that she really really really wanted. But then one day she paused after opening up a box with the fountain pen that she'd been admiring and said,
"Are you trying to buy my affection?" I froze completely. It didn't occur to me that she would feel that way, but what I noticed was that I stopped picking out presents for her, it was as if an energetic stop sign had presented itself!
At that moment I realized
that if I allowed myself to contract, that's exactly what the universe
would do with me as well. It would stop gifting me the exact object, experience, event, that would bring me so much joy. So instead, I reveled in the gifts, showered both
friend and lover with hugs and kisses, knowing that the best gift for
them was a grateful receiver.
And indeed, having had a mother who was trained to serve others first
and herself last if at all, I've known the pain of a daughter who wants
to give to a mother who wouldn't receive. There is a sadness there that
knows no bounds, and I've learned over the years, that instead of
trying to push and pull her into receiving, the fastest way to teach is
to lead by example.
We've been taught that it is greater to give than to receive. This is an untenable equation precisely because it ain't equal. For a person to give, there must be someone there to receive. If there
was no one to receive, there would be no point in giving. The dual
roles hold the same weight in this sacred equation.
And indeed the formula for abundance requires gratitude and celebration, the more we applause, the more the performers shine, the more we savor, the more the flavors dance in our mouth, the more we cherish, the more our lovers open their hearts to give.
And amen for that!
