Summer Tips for Teachers
Sometimes, with all the obligations in our lives, the last person we take care of ourself. As a teacher, though, you can't afford to put yourself "last on the list." How do you avoid burnout, and recharge your batteries at the end of another long school year? The answer might be to create a "lesson plan" just for yourself. Our links this month are full of suggestions of how to do just that. Get involved in your community, spend time outdoors, pursue a new hobby, read some good books (not necesssarily about teaching!), and reconnect with friends. Even if you have a summer job, try to take some time to refresh and recharge. You deserve it!

Have a wonderful summer!

Students will love reading their parts, featuring a playful use of language and larger-than-life characters like Paul Bunyan, Mike Fink, and Sweet Betsy from Pike. Each script has six levels, so every student can read a part at his or her level. Audio CDs let them read along with the story, before practicing their parts on their own. Each title available individually, or purchase the complete set of all 6 titles at a special price.

Quote of the Month
"Every now and then go away, have a little relaxation, for when you come back to your work your judgment will be surer. Go some distance away because then the work appears smaller and more of it can be taken in at a glance and a lack of harmony and proportion is more readily seen."
--Leonardo da Vinci
