Headmaster's Greeting

RESPECT

Respect may be a character trait that is hard to come by in an election season. It is, nevertheless, an admirable quality and certainly one we want our children to learn. At Memorial Lutheran School (MLS) we try to teach respect for all people and practices of good-will. One way in which we teach respect is by asking our students to stand attentively and reverently during the opening and closing ceremonies of our school day. At these ceremonies students participate by reciting various prayers, singing various hymns, and speaking various pledges.

Because students always look to adults to model expected behaviors, we ask that any parents who are in the gym also stand attentively and reverently during the morning opening and afternoon prayers. Your example will assist our students to learn the importance of respect for religious and civil practices. You are welcome to join us in our prayers and pledges; if you do not know them, there are copies of the ceremonial elements by the gym entrances.

We are extremely grateful for the assistance and support our parents give to the students of MLS. Your cooperation with teaching the quality of respect is appreciated by us and beneficial to our children. Thank you.

Pastor Heine,

Headmaster

Character Counts Free Dress Day Wednesday - Wear Yellow or Gold

Mrs. Diane Lamberson, LCSW, MLS Counselor, will be talking to the children this month about the character trait of Respect.  This Wednesday, September 5, students may dress in Yellow/Gold for Character Counts!. We wear yellow/gold for respect because we want our children to follow the Golden Rule - "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you." Students may wear a yellow or gold colored shirt with blue jeans and tennis shoes. You may reach Mrs. Lamberson at any time with questions at dlamberson@mlchouston.org.
