Welcome to Everyone |
Last Saturday the MLS "Fore the Kids" Golf Tournament was held. The weather was so beautiful, but a bit cool. All of the golfers and helpers had a great day! The Brechan and Flinder families are all smiles in the photo above! Thank you to all of the golfers, sponsors and helpers for their effort in making the day a success.
Have a great weekend!

Barnes and Noble Book Fair This Weekend, April 28 and 29 |
Memorial Lutheran is hosting a book fair at Barnes & Noble this weekend - April 28 and 29. You can visit the store itself this Saturday or Sunday, and you can also order online at BN.COM/bookfairs - you need to enter the Bookfair ID 10730885 at checkout. The Barnes & Noble store is at Voss and Westheimer, 7626 Westheimer.
Summer Reading Books: Want to get the summer reading books without running all over town? We gave Barnes & Noble a list of the books we want for the kids, and they set them aside for us. They are arranged by grade. A list of the summer books will be available at the book fair.
Poetry Contest: We will also be giving out the prizes for our poetry contest, which includes a $25.00 gift certificate to Barnes & Noble for the grand-prize winner.
Guest Readers: We will have guest readers coming in to read books throughout the day, including Mrs. Bohot from Kindergarten, and Frau Angelika, our MLS German teacher.
Can't be in town? Even those family members who live far away can purchase books on-line and the proceeds will go to the school (see the above information for online ordering).
Proceeds from this book fair will help the Malaria Initiative. Thank you so much for your support and we look forward to seeing you there.
We would like to thank the Stoneburner Family and Ms. Lea Zimmerman for their donations of books to the library. All of the donations received this year are much appreciated! |
MLS Science Fair Winners |
 | Chloe Cooper, Mrs. Kleb, Tara Nored |
The MLS Science Fair was held April 11-13. There were a lot of amazing projects displayed in the gym. Mrs. Kleb, 3rd grade teacher, coordinated the event and students in 1st though 8th grade submitted projects.
First through third place ribbons were awarded, and from those first place projects, a top winner from the lower grades and middle grades was selected. Chloe Cooper in 3rd grade and Tara Nored in 6th grade took those top honors.
Congratulations! |
MLS Golf Tournament Thanks |
We would like to thank all of our golfers for attending the tournament and our faculty who came out to help for the day. We would like to especially thank our many donors, especially Global Paragon, the Solomon Family, Amegy Bank, RigNet, Inc., the McDermott Family, Parker School Uniforms, Carl Pollex and 5-2-1 Compressor Saver for all being tournament and hole sponsors. The tournament and raffle raised over $10,000 which will be added to the playground fund.

Sports Banquet May 4, 6 p.m. |
The annual Sports Banquet is set for Friday, May 4, at 6 p.m. A form was sent home with the athletes to return by next Wednesday. We will need to let the caterer, Demeris BBQ, know how many to serve. The banquet begins at 6 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. The evening honors all of our students in grades 1 to 8 who played basketball, volleyball and soccer this year. Each gets a trophy! If you have any questions, please let Mr. Nelson know - tnelson@mlchouston.org. All coaches should be in attendance also.
