Welcome to Everyone

We celebrate Lutheran Schools next week, February 13-17. The week will be filled with fun and activities. A flyer was sent home about the various dress-up days, but if you have any questions, you may speak with your child's teacher.

Re-enrollment information was mailed to you recently. Be sure to return the necessary forms to the office by February 15. You may call the school office if you have any questions. We look forward to having everyone back with us in the new school year.

Have a great week!

Our elementary teams continue with their games in the West Houston Christian Athletic League - the first grade team plays at MDUMC this Saturday, February 11, at 9:00 a.m. and the third grade team plays at St. Jerome this Saturday this Saturday, February 11, at 4:00 p.m. vs. Second Baptist.

Presidents Day Holiday Monday, February 20

There is no school on Presidents Day, Monday, February 20. Parents with children in Early Start 1 through 8th grade should fill out the special childcare reservation form and return it to the school office by Friday, February 17.  The form is attached here for you, but will also be sent home.  We will need to determine childcare staffing for this non-school day.  Presidents Day Childcare

Go Texan Day February 24

"Go Texan Day" is set for Friday, February 24.  The Parent Teacher League is sponsoring the hot dog lunch for our students and faculty!  Thank you to the PTL!  All children are encouraged to dress in western attire that day - hats, boots, jeans, western shirts, etc.  Let's kick off the rodeo season in style!

Parent Teacher League Donates to the Playground and Technology

Thank you to the Parent Teacher League and our MLS parents for their hard work in getting us closer to our purchase of playground equipment.  Thanks to the successful Fall Festival, Laura Rochelle presented a check for $10,000 to Mr. Schepmann for the playground fund.  Plans are in place to add more structures on the playground. Check out the back hallway by the back desk for details. All playground donations are very much appreciated. If you have specific questions about the playground you may call and speak with Mr. Schepmann.  The PTL also presented checks for $450 for tricycles and $100 for the technology program. We thank our parents for supporting the Parent Teacher League and its efforts to make MLS a great place for your children!

Library Note from Deaconess Obersat

Springtime is coming very soon! If you are doing any Spring cleaning at your house, and find you have some gently used children's books you no longer need, please consider donating them to our school library. Deaconess Obersat will be very happy to have them! Thank you!

SCRIP Information from Mrs. St-Onge

A note from Mrs. St-Onge about SCRIP:

Congratulations to Reverend Obersat for winning the January drawing for the Barnes and Noble gift card.  Rev. Obersat is our most faithful program participant.

He shares a few reasons why his family likes using SCRIP:

"SCRIP is a great program. In purchasing SCRIP our family is not only using SCRIP to make our weekly purchases, but in doing so we are also helping the school. There is a little planning to be done when we use SCRIP. If we are thinking about making a major purchase we like to check and see if we can use SCRIP cards to purchase the item. Even when we are considering purchasing an item that is not a major item we check SCRIP and then order. Usually we order a specific brand of SCRIP on a weekly basis because this is where most of our groceries are purchased. We usually purchase a week or two ahead so that we have a SCRIP card on hand. Please think about using SCRIP. It is a great way to help our school with fundraisers and your personal purchases."

If you have any questions, please contact Deborah St-Onge ([email protected]).  You can also find information in the back hallway in the aftercare pick-up area.  Thank you for supporting our school with your purchases!

MLS Golf Tournament April 21

This year, Memorial Lutheran School will host a fundraising golf tournament on Saturday, April 21, at Bear Creek's Master's Course. This date was our original auction date, but we will be going to an "every-other-year" major Spring auction. MLS has not hosted a golf tournament in a while, and we thought is was time to have one!

We will still have a big raffle prize as we have had in these last few years - one of the prizes this year will be two airline tickets with no black-out dates on Southwest Airlines! Thank you Southwest for that donation!  Raffle ticket sales will start in March, so watch for that information.

Look for participation and sponsorship information to be sent out soon. Mark your calendars for April 21, get your golfing buddies together, and plan for a day of fun.

Contact LouAnn in the school office if you have questions or would like to help in any way [email protected]
