MELM Public Relations Announces
A True Love Story
Washington, DC -
Jan 26, 2009
Rhozier T. Brown and Mertine Moore
decided on Sunday, December 21, 2008 to
get married. The wedding was planned and
implemented within ten days. On New Year's
Eve 2008, Rhozier and Mertine had a Barack
Obama Wedding. Why was this a Barack
Obama Wedding? They stepped out on faith
and confidence, just as the Obamas did. Just
like the Barack
Obama campaign, the People paid for it.
Excitement is not only in Washington, DC for
Barack and Michelle, but also for Rhozier and
Mertine.
On Sunday, December 21, 2008, a man and
woman were discussing their relationship as
they were on their way to church. The young
lady suggested that they either needed to stop
seeing each other, make a commitment not to
get intimately involved anymore, as it was
affecting her spiritual walk, or get married.
The
man protested that there was no way he could
marry this woman without being in a position
to take care of all the expenses, since he was
presently unemployed and unable to support
his new wife and her son. "I understand
that", replied the woman. "I appreciate that, I
honor that and I know that you will be in a
position to take care of everything. I believe in
you. I'll live with you in the back of a truck if
we have to. We will make it. I know you, I
love you and I know that as long as we are
together we can
make anything happen." That
evening they decided they would get their
marriage
license on Christmas Eve. The gentleman
phoned a close friend whose home is where
they'd spent
Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, asking if
they'd allow them to use their home for an
intimate marriage ceremony and reception.
They were thrilled to be the hosts.
Then the groom
placed
a call to a caterer friend, who volunteered to
donate all the catering services. The bride
contacted her
Event Planner friend, who immediately kicked
into
high gear, organizing the complete event, of
course, on a volunteer basis. Friends
donated champagne and beverages. The
Event Planner
picked up the bride, went to the host home to
discuss arrangements, went to another friend
who starting pulling gorgeous gowns out of
her gorgeous closet in her gorgeous home.
One gown was just perfect, and
then she even gave the bride a gown to wear
after the wedding. The bride just broke down
in tears. One of Washington, DC's finest
milliners
created the perfect headpiece. It was
supposed to be
just 20 or 25
folks, as both groom and bride have large
families. The bride had to tell her groom not
to invite one more person. The videographer
and the photographer both donated their
services.
The groom said, "We've got to have rings".
The wedding bands were also a gift. The
wedding
party was
organized. The Officiating Minister had the
couple come
over, the other ministers gave their blessings
over the phone. Two limosine driver friends
called to volunteer their services. A good
friend of the groom invited the couple to
Winston-Salem, North Carolina for their
honeymoon. He told them he'd put them
up in an intimate Bed and Breakfast Inn for a
few days.
One of the bride's
sisters created a beautiful online invitation,
and guests just needed to RSVP to the Event
Planner, making a smooth transition for
everyone. The couple could not believe all the
blessings, generosity and love they were
receiving from so many friends.
Just as many told Barack and Michelle they
should wait, they didn't stand a chance in
reaching their goal, they moved forward on
faith and confidence and the belief that "Yes,
they can!" Rhozier and Mertine were told they
should wait, the timing wasn't right, the man
was unemployed due to budget cuts, but they
decided to move forward on faith, confidence,
love and the belief that "Yes, they can!" Just
like
the opposition that confronted Barack and
Michelle,
the couple knew that "Yes, they can!"
Anyone who saw this couple commented on
the glow that was radiating from their
happiness. So much so that one day while
eating dinner, a couple sitting across from
them, kept staring at the couple and the
gentleman came over and insisted that he pay
for their meal. When they asked why, he said
that they looked so happy and in love. Shortly
afterwards, a young teenage girl, about 14 or
15, saw the couple walking down the street
holding hands and smiling, and commented to
them, "Yah look like teenagers, and so in
love". They were sailing high on love, faith
and the belief that "Yes, they can!"
The Wedding Day
The groom took the bride and her 14 year old
son to breakfast, as they both knew they
should eat a good meal because they
probably would not be eating anything else all
day. The bride returned home to pamper
herself with a nice long bath. Her hairstylist
stopped by to give her a fresh hairstyle, a visit
that
was a true surprise. One of the bride's sisters
took her to the beautiful home overlooking
Rock Creek Park, where the ceremony would
be held. She was so calm, she just relaxed
and cat napped. She even put on her own
make-up.
The limo driver picked up the groom and the
son. Guests started filing in. The atmosphere
was jovial, upbeat and electric, similar to an
Obama rally. The vibe was infectious, the
groom was in a humorous, lighthearted mood,
which is his normal MO. In fact, the hostess
was so anxious that she
requested that the groom keep everyone
laughing with his unusual lighthearted humor.
The groom's motto is "Merry Christmas", a
salutation used to greet everyone everyday of
the year, so even though it was six days past
Christmas, everyone was greeted with a hug
and a jovial "Merry Christmas" because every
day is Christmas to him. The groom
was
looking like a distinguished Prince. The
bride's gown was draped back and jeweled.

"Yes, they can!"
On New Year's Day, Mr. and Mrs. Brown
drove to Winston-Salem for their honeymoon.
When they arrived in town, the
friend gave them keys to the Bridal Suite at a
luxurious hotel, all expenses paid. Why was
this an Obama wedding? Obama ran his
campaign on faith and confidence that he
would achieve his goal, the people believed in
him and contributed to the success of his
campaign, and "Yes, he can!" The couple
married on faith, confidence and love. Their
friends' generosity made their wedding
successful, and like Obama, "Yes, they can!"
In fact, the
bride and groom's first dance was to the song
"At Last" by Etta James, and 20 days later, on
January 20, at the Inaugural Ball, the
Obamas first dance was to the exact same
song "At Last", sung by Beyonce Knowles.
Barack and Michelle said "Yes, we can!" to the
world and the couple said "Yes, we can!" to
each other. The groom told the bride's
mother
that he would marry her daughter one day.
He kept his promise 35 years later. The
overflow from the hope and inspiration that
Obama has generated throughout the world,
has touched this couple with the same
infectious hope and inspiration. Change has
come to America through Obama and change
has come to this couple through love. "Yes,
they can!"
