            Coalition of Ex-offender Organizations (CEO)
convene its first Press Conference to be held at
New Commandment Baptist Church, 625 Park
Road, NW, Washington, DC. This Press
Conference will be held on Thursday, January 8,
2009, at 3:00 p.m.

The objective of the Press Conference is to
address Mayor Adrian Fenty on the Office of
Ex-offender Affairs and his position and policy
on Ex-offender issues. The CEO would also
like President-Elect Obama to include
Offender and Ex-offender issues in his
transition agenda. Nationally there are 25
million ex-offenders who feel forgotten,
dismissed and ignored.

        Primary Issue

The Office Of Ex-offender Affairs was
established in 1994 and re-established in
2008 by legislation from the DC City Council.
Originally an ex-offender headed this office,
Rodney Mitchell, Esq. Atty. Mitchell was
abruptly terminated by the Mayor, with no
official explanation given. Currently this
position is manned by a non ex-offender. The
Office of Gay, Lesbian and Transgender
Affairs would never be manned by a non gay,
lesbian or transgender. The Office of Asian
Affairs would never be headed by a non Asian.
Why is the Office of Ex-offender Affairs led by
a non ex-offender? Why are we being so
disrespected?
