Greetings!
Holding firmly to the word of life; then, on the day of
Christ's return, I will be proud that I did not run the race in vain and that
my work was not useless. Philippians
2:16
Most of life is temporary, isn't it? The clean kitchen I left this morning will
(most likely) not be clean when I get home tonight. The new car my friend just purchased only
remained "new" for a few weeks. Even
most of the people we see on a daily basis will be fleeting relationships. It is all vain and futile...or...maybe it isn't.
Philippians 2:16 holds significance for believers living in this vain and futile world. We're
called to be different, not to be caught in the vanity or futility of it all,
but to live with purpose so in the end, we can know, "my work was not useless." So I guess the vital question is, where will your
life and the gifts God has given you make a difference?
This month the Grace Connection will focus on running the
race with clarity and purpose. Pastor
Blair will outline the four steps to running the race at Grace while Anna and
David Deats will share how they are running the race and Craig Hall will share
how Discover Grace might help you gain clarity as you run the race.
Blessings,
Sheila Hoekstra Grace Church

Running the Race!
Run
the Race...what does that mean to you? Here at Grace, it is a theme that we have
used in the past and continue to use to focus on growing as a believer. If you
were here last April, you were able to hear Pastor Joel explain what running the race
means to Grace. If you have attended the Discover Grace class, you have seen it
there as well. How do we run the race at Grace? Here it is in a
nutshell...more

Discover Grace
by Craig Hall Remember the emotions you
experienced the first time you visited a church? It is often a mixture of anxiety,
excitement, anticipation, and apprehension.
Laura and I first visited Grace 11 years ago after moving into the
area. The first Sunday we met friendly, genuine
people, enjoyed the worship and appreciated biblical preaching. The next week we were struck that the pastor
knew our name! By week 3, we were hooked
and ready to understand God's purpose for us at Grace... more

Truth or Dare 2009 Winter Youth Retreat
..."you will know the TRUTH, and the TRUTH will set you free." John 8:32
As our theme verse for the weekend states, 49 youth and 8 leaders were challenged to continue to learn the hard, empirical evidence about the absolute truths we know and strive to adhere to. We also realized we cannot "dare" to go out into the world without God's protection and His armor, and that we are all called to be ready to defend our faith while under attack...more
