From our Perspective
Following is an interview with Paul Pedison who is
a
serving Elder of Grace Church. He is
committed to Christ, serves in Graceland,
and is well known for his encouraging words and
thoughtful wisdom. Paul serves in Graceland and
leads Men's Bible Study.
What has God been teaching you lately?
God has been convicting me about consistency in all
areas of my life. In the Wednesday morning men's
Bible study, we have been going through the book of
James. James is very clear that our actions should
match our words and that our words should match
our Christian beliefs. Throughout this study, it
seems like God is shining His light into dark corners of
my heart and asking: "What about this area of your
life? Why doesn't it look like the rest?" I think what
He is teaching me is that He wants the best for me
and that can only come through complete obedience
to Him.
What is the most important thing you've learned
about walking with God?
My Pastor, growing up, used to always say, "Love is
spelled T-I-M-E." This is true in all relationships, but
especially true in our relationship with Him. My
experience has always been that He is faithful when I
take the time out to spend with Him.
How do you keep your time with God fresh?
I like to incorporate three aspects into my daily time
with God. They are prayer, meditation and scripture
reading. To keep things fresh, I will focus on one of
these three areas each day and spend the majority
of my quiet time in that one area. God has taught
me so much through all three of these different
means.
Who was influential in your spiritual growth?
My wife, Amy, has definitely been the most
influential person in my spiritual growth. Her
faithfulness and seriousness about her walk with God
serve as both an encouragement and a challenge to
me. Amy is one of the most Godly people I know and
God definitely knew what He was doing when he
gave me such a vivid example of what He expects.
If you could experience an event in the Bible,
which one would you choose?
I would like to have been with the Disciples when
Jesus appeared to them after His resurrection. I
think this is when the light bulb really came on and
they truly understood what they had experienced.
What is something the people of Grace would be
surprised to know about you?
I am 1/2 Greek and still have many cousins and
relatives over there. My father's family is from an
island called Kios (see Paul's 3rd missionary journey
Acts 20:15). I have been blessed to go over there
twice and look forward to returning with our children
one day.
