Business Intelligence News.. Client Solutions have recently won several large BI contracts in Ireland and in the UK.
We recently won a contract with Bord Gais Ireland to develop an Enterprise Wide Data Warehouse. The team also won the tender to provide the BI tool which in this case will be Business Objects. While phase one of the warehouse will focus on Financial reporting, it is expected that this project will have a number of phases that will provide reporting across all areas of the business. Client Solutions also won a tender in UCC to build phase one of their DW which will focus on the student register system initially, but will eventually incorporate data from their financial systems and HR systems over time. Microstrategy is the tool of choice for this customer. Client Solutions have been awarded the design of the data warehouse in Siemens Business Services. This project is likely to involve customers in Cork and London and should provide a gateway into further work in Siemens London ,if successful. In the UK, we secured a deal to supply Microstrategy to Furniture Village, one of the UK's largest furniture retailers. We also supplied Markerstudy Insurances with Microstrategy licences and some consultancy. We are in the final stage of a proof of concept phase with De Beers Diamonds London for Microstrategy. And have been retained by Biffa Waste Management Services to review their existing DW infrastructure and suggest recommendations going forward.

Innovation Management...its the buzz for 2008.
Do you have staff who are bursting with innovative ideas?
Client Solution's Idea Forum application allows employees throughout an organisation to submit innovative ideas to their peers. These ideas are then reviewed and considered for implementation. One good idea can be more than enough to pay for the application and it creates a competitive, innovative environment amongst employees.

ICG Requirement Gathering Project
Irish Continental Group (Irish Ferries) has engaged Client Solutions to perform a requirements gathering exercise to produce what will effectively be a high level Request For Proposal (RFP) document that ICG can send out to prospective solution providers. Eucon, the container shipping business in the ICG group, has been using the same bespoke software package for the past ten years or so. It began its life as an operations management package but as the business has grown, the software has had to evolve to address other needs such as the generation of quotations, container control, and cost control. Eucon are aware that they perhaps are not benefiting fully from recent developments in technology and a back to basics look at their business is needed. In the past Client Solutions carried out a similar requirements gathering exercise for a different company in the ICG group and as they felt that project was a success, they want now to do the same for Eucon.
The requirements gathering process involves first getting a good understanding of the business and then extracting the key needs. We have to be careful not to describe the business in terms of the previous software system as that could be limiting. After interviews over 25 of Eucon's employees, a pattern of needs is starting to emerge. These needs are then categorised into functional and non-functional requirements and are organised by the functional area of the business that they relate to.

The Glanbia Story with SAP
Glanbia PLC, with assistance from Client Solutions, has implemented SAP Mobile Asset Management at their state of the art Dairy Processing Plant in County Kilkenny.
The solution allows Maintenance Craftspeople to download inspection orders form SAP to handheld Mobile Computers, which are then used to record inspection results, prior to uploading again to SAP. The solution uses SAP's Netweaver Mobile Infrastructure Technology to enable occasionally connected operation.
"Our craftspeople have really taken to the solution and we are now getting high quality information far more rapidly as a result." Brian Farrell, Engineering Manager

Client Solutions' People and Culture are their big differentiators - They have a real can do attitude.
Gerry Gaffney, EBS Building Society
EBS, always an organisation to use technology to gain competitive advantage, saw an opportunity to exploit Business Intelligence to increase member focus and partnered with Client Solutions to achieve their goals.
Client Solutions designed a data warehouse on Oracle and took feeds from all of the core EBS legacy systems including Saving, Lending, Insurance, Investments and a JD Edwards General Ledger.
Now, within the Society's Head Office each business unit is using this single data repository to satisfy their own reporting requirements. Read the whole story here or contact us today on email joanne.oconnor@clients.ie |
| Charity Donations
Before Christmas we asked our customers to help us choose two Irish charities to receive a donation from Client Solutions. The response was fantastic and I thank you for your commitment to this idea.
