2012 National Derby Rallies National Championships

Bowling Green has hosted an All-American Soap Box Derby race for many years, but this week, a new event for these young competitors is rolling into town. National Derby Rallies, Inc. selected the city to host its 2012 and 2013 National Championships and over 200 participants are arriving in town for a full week of races. Organized in 1977, NDR sanctioned races are held across the United States and Canada nearly every weekend from Easter to Thanksgiving with racers gaining points to qualify for the Nationals.

Qualifying races begin at 7 a.m. Tuesday- Thursday in AA Masters, Stock and Super Stock classes followed by Glass-Wrapped car races on Wendesday & Thursday. An adult race is scheduled for Thursday at 6 p.m. followed by races to the Top 12 Friday morning. Championships begin bright and early at 7 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Spectators are welcome, so come out and support this family-oriented event! Follow the link below for a full schedule of activities and more information.

2nd CRAWL Reader's Ride in the South

Gearheads, racers and fans of the NHRA know the name Holley Performance Products. Now the folks at Holley are joining Crawl Off-Road Magazine in bringing an off-road truck event to Bowling Green this weekend. Taking place at the Wishbone Ranch OHV park, the 2nd CRAWL Reader's Ride in the South is sure to test the skills of these daredevil drivers! Open trail riding will take all weekend with the highlight of the weekend Saturday at 10 a.m. as the most extreme trucks, known as rock crawlers, participate in the Bounty Hill Climb.

Ian Johnson, host of Xtreme 4x4 TV on the Spike Network, will be there holding autograph sessions on Saturday and Sunday. Musical guests Andy and the Rockers will entertain Saturday evening and food vendors will be onsite all weekend. Tickets can be purchased at the gate for $25 for the weekend or $20 for a two day pass. Proceeds benefit The Center for Courageous Kids in Scottsville!
