Ahoy! Join the Capitol Arts Youth Theatre for a swashbuckling comedy this weekend and enjoy "A Pirate's Life For Me!" Come watch as aristocrat Roger Goodman gets his heart set on marrying the wealthy Sarah Huffington until he finds out she thinks he is boring and would rather marry a brave and adventurous pirate! Determined to prove himself to his beloved, Roger hires Long John Silver to tutor him in the field of piracy.

Meanwhile, Sarah dubs herself the Pirate Queen and sets sail with her own crew. With rumors of treasure and kidnapping floating around, Treasure Island is soon crowded with retired pirates, lady pirates and other pirate wannabes.

Performances are Friday and Saturday at 7 pm and again on Sunday afternoon at 3 pm. Follow the link below for ticket information or call 270-782-2787.

    Great American Campout

Let's give back to our children and ourselves what we don't even realize we've lost and reconnect with the GREAT outdoors! A great place to start is by celebrating an all American tradition with family and friends at the Great American Campout at Lost River Cave and Valley this Saturday. Trade screen time for green time and get in touch with your wild side by spending a night under the stars, allowing children to understand and experience why it's called the GREAT outdoors.

Learn effective camping techniques like proper campfire management, open-fire cooking, and crafts that utilize natural elements and recreate man's historic use of nature. Share camp fire stories, play flashlight games and gather together with other campers at the ice cream social.

Activities begin at 4 p.m. and campers must be out of the valley by 10 a.m. Sunday. Registration is required by August 25 for only $15 per family. More information and the registration form is available at the link below. Call 270-393-0077 for more information.
