Driving Miss Daisy
Support our superb local theater troupe while you laugh and cry with a Public Theatre of Kentucky performance of Driving Miss Daisy this weekend or next. Winner of the 1988 Pulitzer Prize, the play takes place in the Deep South, in 1948, just prior to the civil rights movement. Having recently demolished another car, Daisy Wertham is informed by her son that henceforth she must rely on the services of a chauffeur, a thoughtful, unemployed black man.
In a series of absorbing scenes spanning twenty-five years, the two, despite their mutual differences, grow ever closer to, and more dependent on each other, until eventually, they both come to realize they have more in common than they ever believed possible.
Show times are Thursdays at 7 p.m., Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sunday, April 17 at 3 p.m. For more information, visit the link below or call 270-781-6233.
