Greetings!
I was having a
session with my coach the other day. Yes, this coach hires a coach for two
reasons. Firstly it's good to walk the talk. Secondly all good coaches know
that they get more achieved by having a sounding board, objective listener,
additional insights and accountability that ensures what you plan to do
actually gets done.
We were talking
about how I've created things in the past and applying those principles to some
of my current projects. I used the example of how I moved from becoming the
leading sales consultant with Optus (tele-communications company) to
establishing my coaching business full time. Here are the six principles I
identified.
Read the six steps below.

Background
I'd been working as a
sales consultant for Optus for two years. I'd commenced knowing nothing about
the products or ever having worked in a call centre. I had a good knowledge of
sales though as I'd been teaching sales to marketing diploma students for the
previous eight years. It was a great opportunity to put all my theories into
practice and they worked with amazing results. The KPI (company minimum
standard) was 27% conversion of calls to sales. But my conversion rate hovered around 62%. Optus ended up making me
call coach because of the results I achieved.
I wanted to begin my
own coaching business so I began seeing clients after hours. The most clients I
had at any one time was five. Then I decided to work part time with Optus and
part time coaching clients. Here is what I did to make the transition from part
time coaching to a full time business.
6 Steps to Creating my Dream
1. Made a
decision. I made a strong decision
that now was the time to make the transition and create a successful coaching business.
2. Set a goal. I set a goal to have 10 clients on board by Christmas.
I had two months to achieve that goal
3. Strong
determination. I was committed to my goal and burnt all my bridges
behind me. In my mind there was no turning back. Failure was not an option.
4. Spoke often
and positively about what I planned to do. To ensure greater accountability and to overcome fear I told others
what I WAS going to achieve.
5. Anticipation.
I lived with an expectation that new
clients would come to me and became more conscious of existing opportunities
around me. I got excited about the possibility of leaving the stressful life in a call centre running my own business.
6. Believed. I dealt with self-doubt and had a positive affirmation
I used regularly. 'I am a successful
professional coach. My clients have exceptional moments of clarity that
transform their lives forever'. I not only said it - I believed it.
The result
I didn't actually
get 10 clients on board before Christmas I got 12. Over four hundred people
later I'm still coaching.
So how can apply these principles to achieve your
goals and fulfil your dreams?

When
I decided to take up "Dare to be Your Best" coaching program I was in the
middle of a crossroads with my career. The previous 12 months in my job had
been frustrating and unfulfilling. De-motivated and not confident about what my
next steps might be, coaching has pointed me in new directions and to see
opportunities I had not previously considered.
After
the first 12 weeks of coaching I have continued to meet with Anthony on a
fortnightly basis to plan and strategise, as I continue to build a successful
events management business. Anthony has been a pillar of support, regular
encourager and also a fantastic mentor. His support and guidance helped me set
goals, get through hurdles and achieve my ambitions. I have attempted to start
my own business in the past but was never able to get to where I am today.
Thank
you Anthony for your guidance and "push" to bring out the best in
me.
