Even in the dead of winter, Walworth County is warm and hospitable, thanks to a concentration of businesses that cater to skiers, snowmobilers, and sailors. That's right: During the last few years, ice sailing has become popular among the diehards who can't bear to put their boats in dry dock. Sailboats are mounted onto large skates and glide atop the frozen lake at speeds as high as 60 miles per hour. Those brave enough to try it claim it is an invigorating experience!!

Lake Geneva for the past several years has been chosen as the site for the National Snow Sculpting Competition.  This competition is the centerpiece of Winterfest, held the first weekend in February. Bedroom 1318This popular annual winter celebration features a multitude of recreational activities, an abundance of food and great entertainment, including helicopter rides and much more.

Each year an estimated 30,000 people see the competition as fifteen teams from states throughout the country - Alaska to Florida - vie for the national title.  Each team consists of three members who spend three plus days using a variety of hand tools carving a 6' x 6' x 10' block of snow.

The public is invited to Riviera Park (Wrigley Drive and the lakefront) the first full weekend in February to watch competitors create their designs.  Weather permitting, competitors are on site 9am - 1pm and 2pm until dark.  The public also gets to participate by working on sample snow blocks and voting in the "People's Choice" sculptured award.  Voting is done on Saturday and awards are given at 3:00pm on Saturday.  (262) 248-4416.

This year Lake Geneva Extreme Sports has decided to add to the festivities by hosting a walk/run.  Distances include 5k and 10k and will start in Library Park (just west of Riviera Park) at 10:15am on Saturday, February 2, 2008.

Best of all, Lake Geneva is just 75 miles away-and if traffic cooperates, you can leave the Loop by six and be sipping a glass of chablis by eight.

No matter what your preference of enjoyment, you'll find it here in Lake Geneva.

Now You Need Somewhere To Stay:
(See Our Savings Coupon Below)

Lake Geneva is filled with wonderful accommodations.  From 5 star resorts, B & B's, and small motels. But, have you ever considered a vacation rental home? Here are the top reasons to consider one of our rental homes in downtown Lake Geneva which now offer boat rentals for staying guests.

1. Savings on meals - A furnished kitchen allows vacationers to prepare many of their own meals. During a week's vacation, dining in, rather than going to restaurants for every meal translates into several hundred dollars in savings on food alone.

2. More room - A vacation rental home has more space than a resort or hotel room. Both our homes offer living rooms, dining rooms,
kitchens, front porches and rear decks. When you're on vacation, it's
nice to have some space.

3. Beautiful furnishings and fun atmospheres - Our homes are theme decorated properties which reflect our pride of ownership.

4. More privacy - Our homes are more private than a room in a hotel. In a resort hotel, you may have revelers roaming the halls at all hours.

5. Fully equipped - In addition to fully-furnished kitchens with microwaves and full sized-refrigerators, both our homes have private washers and dryers. Guests can wash their golf, tennis, ski, or beachwear each day. Hidden benefit: less luggage to haul on the trip.

6. Mini bar vs. refrigerator - Take a single beer from the hotel mini-bar or take a six-pack from the refrigerator at the house. Guess what? The cost is about the same. Mini-bars provide great profit centers for hotels. Refrigerators, microwaves, VCRs, washers and dryers provide excellent convenience and savings for vacationers.

7. Better rates - Despite these many advantages, our homes cost less per week or per day than a hotel room at a resort.

8.  Now offering Private Pontoon Boat Rentals for our guests.

Christmas Holidays

Are you traveling to visit family this holiday season, but just know you'll need a break from all the "togetherness"? We invite you to book a stay at one of our vacation rental homes, where you can still enjoy a homey feeling...And as long as we're at it, shall we look ahead to Christmas and gift-giving? We suggest our gift certificate stocking stuffer for friends and family who love to try new places each time they travel, with the added bonus that they never expire.

Company Retreats

If the task of finding a place to hold a small company retreat or year-end strategic planning meeting has landed on your to-do list, show your creative genius by hosting it at the "Nautical Inn" or "Endless Summer Nites".  You will have undistracted time for brainstorming at one of our vacation rental homes. We can comfortably accommodate a business group up to 14, or rent both our homes which are within walking distance to each other and can accommodate 26 guests...

Lake Geneva PowWow
Pow Wows are open to the public, and you are invited to join in the festivities. Pow Wow is a continuation of the intertribal gatherings that have been held in this country for many thousands of years. What has become the modern Pow Wow, however, has evolved since the 1960's. The main features of these celebrations are the drums, traditional music, and dancing, as well as the colorful regalia of the dancers and all the crafts and foods available for sale. Many of the different American Indian cultures are represented, and the heritage of the dancers and singers are reflected in their clothing, their dance steps, and their songs. Pow Wows are a celebration of life and its interconnectedness. They provide an opportunity to get together and have a good time and learn about other cultures and tradtions as we share our growth.

East Troy Electric Railroad
In the days before automobiles, paved roads and highway congestion, trolleys took people everywhere they needed to go. These trolleys were not the rubber-tired trolley-busses we see today, but electric trolleys that ran over railroad tracks laid right in the middle of city streets. While these trolleys have nearly disappeared from the American urban scene, the East Troy Electric Railroad Museum preserves this unique part of 19th and 20th Century history for all to learn from, experience and enjoy. Group tours & charters are available. For a unique dining experience, reserve your ride on the Dinner excursion, call us or visit our website for details.
