Get your piece of over $200 billion in savings!

Everyone always asks me where to get the most coupons.  My answer is always the Sunday newspaper since 82% of coupons are issued in the Sunday newspaper.  This represents well over $200 billion in savings extended to consumers.

If you do not want to subscribe, then the Sunday paper usually comes out the day before and is sold in most major grocery stores for around $2.50.  The good news is you may find the paper bundled with two copies to double your coupons savings.  After all, every household needs newspaper for other projects like painting, lining the cat box (in our house the rabbit cage), or making paper-mache art projects.  So, go get or subscribe to the Sunday paper if you don't already and start getting the savings available every week.  Also, remember to recycle!

The Couponizer of the Month

Dear Amy,

We wanted to let you know what a great product The Couponizer is to keep coupons organized, easy to reach for and fun!

I used to keep my coupons in clear ziploc bags. Four of them to be exact. So pretty much everything had to fall in one of those four. We had friends visit us and she saw how I was using my system and how I made an effort to save money whenever I can. She recommended the Couponizer. She sent me the website and the rest is history. Of course I ordered one and now I keep everything organized which is great!  In addition I also keep track of rebates and this helps with that too!  Hence, now we have a fun system of storing and using all kinds of coupons and rebates and at the end of the year we have a means to treat ourselves and it feels great!  I attached a picture of my husband and I in a restaurant in

New York City. The trip was this past December and the money we acquired from our savings helped fund one of the nights at the W-Hotel.

My husband and I started a tradition that every time we save money with coupons or rebates etc., we would put the money saved in a piggy bank and at the end of the year use that cash for gifts or to treat ourselves. We are happy to say that we had about $200 saved and used that money while in New York while visiting our family and friends. How awesome is that!

Best of luck with your business!
Maira and Albert Jorajuria

Thank you Maira and Albert for teaching us all that coupons really can be romantic and FUN!

Amy's Favorite Tuna Casserole

Adapted from: The Big Book of Casseroles by Maryana Vollstedt.

This is a handy entrée to throw together since most items you probably have in your pantry.  It is creamy and yummy and my whole family loves it!  It is not your typical tuna casserole!  Give it a try and you'll see.

INGRIEDIENTS:

3 cups egg noodles, cooked, drained

2 cans (6 oz. each) light tuna in water, drained

1 cup Basic White Sauce (see recipe below)

¾ cup grated cheddar or parmesan cheese

4 strips bacon

Basic White Sauce

2 TB butter or margarine

2 TB flour

¼ tsp. salt

1/8 tsp. pepper

1 cup milk

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt butter.  Add flour, salt, pepper, stirring constantly until bubbly.  Stir in milk with a whisk and heat to boiling, whisking constantly until thickened, about 1 minute.

DIRECTIONS:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.  In mixing bowl, combine all ingredients together except cheese and bacon.  In 2 ½ quart casserole dish, add mixture and sprinkle top with cheese and bacon bits.  Bake uncovered until hot and bubbly, about 20-25 minutes.  Serve 4.

Coupons to use:  egg noodles, tuna, cheese, bacon, butter, flour, milk.
