A THANKFUL THANKSGIVING.
This week leading up to Thanksgiving is packed with things to do especially if you are hosting a Thanksgiving family gathering. This year, my husband's side of the family is gathering and we are hosting and everyone is bringing dishes to share. I love this tradition since it adds variety and gives everyone a chance to contribute something to the menu. But even better, it reduces the stress around trying to prepare the biggest meal of the year all by myself! I am looking forward to seeing everyone and spending time on preparing the turkey and potato rolls using my Mom's recipe she uses every year.
It amazes me the savings that are published this time of year! Go get your coupons, you can find them everywhere! If you know of anyone who would enjoy a system to keep up with them, then The Couponizer makes a great gift! Use coupon code 282824 at check out for a shipping credit of $4.50.
This month is a time for embracing all the blessings we have in our lives. My husband and I celebrate our 10 year anniversary this month!
Welcome to all the new subscribers, to each of you - thank you for your support, especially the e-mails of encouragement.
Happy Thanksgiving to all,
Amy Bergin
Wife, Mother and President, The Couponizer Company

TIP - Stick with Saving!
How to stick with your spending plan when distractions are at an all time high.
Coupons are certainly designed to save money but did you know they have another hidden purpose that can also save you money?
Coupons can actually help you maintain focus while shopping. The definition of focus as a verb is to concentrate and one place it is easy to lose your concentration is the grocery store or any store for that matter. Coupons can help you focus on saving money. After all, during the holiday season stores are teeming with carefully placed displays and demonstrations, samples, smells and other colorful visual distractions that vie for your attention no matter what the price!
So the next time you are organizing your coupons think of them as little focusing devices that help you execute your shopping and saving plan! |
TOOL - The Weekly Ad
Grocery stores SHOW you the money (savings) right here!!
If you want to maximize your savings in the grocery store, start taking a serious look at the weekly ad published every week. If you receive a Sunday newspaper, the paper version is usually included where you find coupons. If you do not receive the Sunday paper, then it is usually on a stand as you enter the grocery store or you may ask for one at the customer service desk. Also, many stores have an online version which is sometimes quite sophisticated, for example the online version of the weekly ad at Publix allows you to build a printable shopping list to include the items from the weekly ad. It even includes a tool to circle items if you want to print the picture version as a visual reference (see above). Try logging onto your grocery store website to check out the weekly ad, if you cannot find it then there may not be an online version, yet.
To use the weekly ad effectively, look at the weekly advertised discounts by category and match your needs with the deals. Then scan through your coupons to find even more savings on advertised brands. I even cut out the weekly ad pictures and price as if it were a coupon to remind me to find the brand if I don't have a coupon to flag it. If you want to access the weekly ad deals compared with available coupon discounts in a list format by available grocery stores by zip code, then go to www.thegrocerygame.com for fee based lists and other price indicators.
Keep in mind, the paper version of the weekly ad can be a bit cumbersome to deal with in the store, so scanning the deals in advance can help you build a shopping list around the available sale items as well as meat and produce items that are offered at a low price for the week. Prices are one thing about grocery stores that are constantly changing so using this as a tool to help you get to the best deals will save you time and money! |
The Couponizer of the Month - NOVEMBER 2007
Del Christianson
Cartersville, GA
Yesterday I re-subscribed to our local paper and got Sunday's and the coupons. I cut them out today and can see how using the Couponizer is going to help me be so much better organized walking into the grocery store. The other day I was at the store and saw a lady with a handful of coupons trying to go through and figure out which ones she was using, I thought to myself when I have coupons, I'll know exactly which ones I'm using and can quickly get them out of the correct pocket in the Couponizer. I am taking it shopping later this week when I go for my big, pre-Thanksgiving shopping trip using my newly cut coupons. I like to save money but rarely bothered with the coupons because I just wasn't organized. Thanks again Amy for speaking with our group. Have a great Thanksgiving! - Del
