August Greetings! 
For many, this month is when a carefree summer will surrender to more structure around school and other activities. My kids are excited about this change in routine and school supply shopping was big fun! Shopping early while the supply was good, staying focused and actually finding some amazing deals at OfficeMax really helped me spend wisely and I also managed to rack up Office Max perks at the same time!
SHOWROOM NEWS - Last week, we got set-up in a beautiful showroom at the Kansas City Gift Mart. TRA Gifts carries a wide assortment of items for gift stores covering the MINK states (Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas). We add a team of 8 sales reps who will bring our products to the mid-west gift market while the team at DBI covers the Southeast. Having now trained 2 outstanding sales teams, I realize this is the season of my business to teach others to carry the passion forward. I am so grateful for this support.
ALL ABOUT YOU - For the first time in the 3+ years I have been writing this newsletter, I looked at my subscriber list and I am overjoyed to see 32 states represented, along with 2 provinces in Canada! I am encouraged more then ever to bring you meaningful information each month that will yield you more savings and shopping smarts. TIP - How to Stay on Budget While Shopping
This system is so easy and so effective!
This tip is from Serena Morgan from Roswell, GA
While shopping for back to school groceries, I noticed a fellow coupon shopper (Serena) making hash marks as she shopped. I was curious and kindly asked her what she was doing. She explained that every dollar she spends gets a hash mark on her tally sheet. For example, if she is buying breakfast cereal, she checks the price subtracts the coupon amount and writes a tally mark for each dollar. So, if the box cost $3.99, she had a $1 off coupon then she would tally on her sheet 3 hash marks, always rounding up. This way she can quickly glance her sheet and know her total bill. She added and I agree it is easier to put things back while in the aisles than it is at checkout!
With this system you will better gauge when you are creeping towards your budget limit and make adjustments much easier. Anyone who uses coupons knows it is easy to get carried away with selecting deals so this system is a way to check and balance spending as you shop the grocery store or any other store!!.

 The Couponizer Cook
Mary's Lemon Coolers
So refreshing on a hot summer day!
This summer my daughter Mary wanted to sell lemondade at our neighborhood pool. Below is the recipe she used to make it. She sold it for $2.00 per cup and donated her proceeds.
Ingredients:
8 oz. drinking water (purified is best)
1/2 large lemon
4 TB sugar
ice to fill cup
plastic cups
shaker with lid
Makes 1 serving
1. Squeeze 1/2 lemon into shaker with lid, add sugar and water. Shake vigorously (this part is fun!)
2. Place squeezed lemon half into bottom of serving cup and add ice over that. Pour mixture over ice and serve immediatly.
