    The Dotted Line
    The Smartest Ways to Save!
    October 2006

    amyb

Happy October. I apologize for the late release of my newsletter. I snapped a tendon in my elbow playing tennis and it makes it hard to type! Nonetheless, I want to welcome all the new subscribers!!! Lately we have been gaining new subscribers at a very rapid pace and I am thrilled you have joined the community of Dotted Liners!!

October always marks the true entrance of the Fall season and lurking is yet another season -- the Holiday season! So, have you taken a look ahead and decided in advance how you will weather this season of spending? The TOOL featured this month can help you do just that!

Other news -- The Giftionizer makes its debut on QVC on Monday, October 16th at 4pm. Tune in and watch Robyn Spizman demonstrate this tool we designed together. A great gift for anyone who strives to be timely and thoughtful with greetings and gift giving!

Halloween Tip -- My kids are dressing up as a cat, a bat and Spiderman for Halloween. Costumes can be bought at clearance prices the day of Halloween but selection is usually picked over. So, for great buys, hit the consignment stores!! Also, buy your Halloween candy in waves according to the coupons in the Sunday paper to save money on brand name premium candy. Happy Trick or Treating!

Thanks for your support and I wish you all the best savings,

e-mail TIP - Extra Savings without Extra E-mail Ads
How to avoid advertising e-mails if you shop online.

Going to online coupon websites to find online coupon codes is smart and you can wind up saving you lots of money depending on the deal. However, often you may find yourself having to register your e- mail address to gain access to the savings. Depending on the service and their privacy policy, this address may be given to other businesses to send you promotional material.

So, it?s smart to set up a new email account so your personal account doesn?t get bogged down with advertisements. I learned this the hard way! Your interent service provider may allow you to have more than one e-mail address or there are a number of different sites that offer free email accounts including MSN (Hotmail) and Yahoo. All the e-mail ads and other spam will go to this address and you don't have to set it up to download the e-mails, so they will just go into cyberspace and you won't have to deal with deleting them out of your personal e- mail box.

This way you can surf for savings without getting hit with a tidal wave of advertisements.

gift TOOL - Holiday Spending Calculator
A tool to help you plan ahead for holiday expenses.

Over the years I have learned that financial discipline is really about advance decision making. In making a budget, you are deciding in advance how much money you will spend on certain things. So, right now, before all the holiday marketing ramps up and unknowingly influences your thinking, take a minute to use this online calculator to decide your holiday spending plan. Share your plan with your family and/or close friend and make it a team effort in sticking to it.

In my family as a way of controlling expenses, all 10 adults put their names in a hat and everyone draws a name. The name you draw is the person you are to buy a gift for and there is a $50 limit to spend on the gift. This is a family tradition and at the same time an example of advance decision making when it comes to how much money is spent during the holiday. Just think of all the savings!!

    Dear Amy,
Just a little note to let you know that I admire you for developing a product and being successful. I think it's really great.

I am a Professional Organizer who had a business (Clutter Control) in Virginia and I was in your affiliate program until I moved a year ago to Raleigh, NC. Although I have not started my organizing business again - I haven't decided what I am going to be doing yet. I have been thinking about developing a product for some time and thought maybe I would concentrate on that.

You are an inspiration to those of us who have an idea and would like to see it happen! I wish you the best of luck!
    Warm Regards,
    Michelle
