TIP -
Stock Up NOW! |
If you have an extra hour or so
during the last days of the holiday, why not inventory
your pantry and cupboards? Find out what you need and
what you want to stock up on for the coming Winter months.
WHY now? Well, the stores are overstocked!
Predicting what people will buy
during the holidays can be tricky business and most stores end
up with extras. The post-holiday deals at the grocery
store are plentiful since much of the merchandise
is seasonal, possibly perishable and has to go. Look for "Buy
One Get One Free"
deals that are used to clear out stock quickly and when
you combine coupons with this kind of deal, you really
can rack up the savings.
Here are a few steps to making your stock-up run to
the grocery store reap the most savings:
1. Take a few minutes to jot down any events coming
up that may require purchasing extra food and/or
supplies. i.e. kids parties, extra meals, school
functions, celebrations.
2. Make a stock-up list of the items you anticipate having to
purchase. i.e. gifts, cake mixes, frosting, cards,
party favors, candles, decorations, meat, seafood, paper products.
3. When shopping go by your list and scan the dump bins which are usually all
over the store including the frozen sections. Match the
items on your stock-up list with the overstock items that have
a shelf life or can be frozen. Be sure to combine your
coupons here for maximum savings!
4. Always go to your pantry and cupboard inventory
first before shopping again. If you can make due on the
items you bought at the deep discounts, then you are winning
the savings game!!
Also, save the store receipt, if you stick to your plan, you
may likely see savings of 50-75% or more and this is a trophy
worth saving! Remember you may access store circulars
online to pre-shop the weekly specials. See the online
weekly specials at
Kroger.

TOOL - Savings Calculator |

While researching topics to
feature in our newsletter, I came across a website that is so
packed with advice, tools, and resources on money management
that it could take you all year to get through it! The
Women?s Institute for Financial Education (WIFE.org) is the
oldest non-profit organization dedicated to providing financial
education to women in their quest for financial independence.
The women who co-founded this website are
Candace Bahr, CEA,
CDS and Ginita Wall, CPA, CFP and each has achieved notable recognition for their work as
financial planners and advisors.
The tool on this website I
experimented with is the
Savings
Calculator. I found the savings information revealed
to be inspiring. If you click on the link and go to it,
you input the things you can live without, the estimated savings
and see how much savings you can theoretical add up. For
example, try typing in things like...
FULL PRICE GROCERIES - estimate saving of $150 a month by
using coupons
EATING OUT - estimate saving $50 a month
CABLE TV - estimate saving $95 a month
LANDSCAPING - estimate saving $200 a month
PREMIUM GAS - estimate saving $50 a month
I am going to try to do without so many video rentals for my
kids. I have found the same children's movies to borrow at
the library for FREE!
Add up all the extra savings that can be grasped if you are
willing to make a few changes and dedicate your efforts to
achieving measurable results!!

A
Note From Amy...
$1,481.51
This is the sum of all the savings reported by "The
Couponizers of the Month" in 2004. This is an
average of $123.46 per person. Keep up the great
work in 2005, and I am looking forward to reading more
stories of savings.
FYI - "The Couponizer of the Month" this month is my old
friend Sally who I met at
Camp Manito-Wish
in Boulder Junction, WI as a teenager. A series of events allowed our paths to cross
via phone after more than 25 years. Having purchased a Couponizer,
she sent me her story of savings and it
meant so much to me, thanks Sal - my pal.
Thank you to ALL of my friends both old and new who have
supported me in launching this product and business.

The
COUPONIZER
of the Month

Meet
Sally Thomas
Phoenix, AZ
I was happy
to receive my Couponizer. I immediately began to move everything out
of my old coupon organizer (it was poorly made, old, falling apart!).
The Couponizer is sturdy, attractive, functional and easy/fun to use.
It is designed in such a way that it's easy to flip through the
coupons held within each pocket, and to see the expiration dates. At
first I had a little trouble because some of the categories I
previously had are not included in Couponizer (such as desserts, fruit
and sauces). I quickly figured out that desserts could go into either
"Baking" (cake mixes, frostings, refrigerated cookie dough) or
"Snacks" (candy, cookies). Sauces could go in either "Condiments" or
"pasta." On my first trip to the grocery store, I saved
$61.38. Several people in the store asked me about the Couponizer
because they saw me using it, and I told them to check your website.
The checkout lady said "this is the biggest ! savings I have seen in a
very long time."
THANKS for a great product!
