Evergreen has added Thermal Oxidizing to an already extensive list of service offerings. Our Tank Cleaning division has experienced exponential growth over the last several years. It was only natural that we responded to new emissions regulations in Texas and other states as they implement more stringent vapor control requirements.
The Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) requires all aboveground storage tanks within the state to meet certain criteria to undergo vapor destruction prior to venting tanks directly to the atmosphere. Examples of tanks that require degassing include (but are not limited to) finished products, intermediates, feed stocks and crude oil.
Customers need a vapor control compliance solution to manage the cost and time of tank outages. In response, we have addressed the problem by utilizing Thermal Oxidizing technology augmented by our robotic manway cannons (which are equipped with a camera and lighting system) to degas and clean tanks simultaneously. Evergreen has invested capital in equipment and seasoned Thermal Oxidizing experts to manage and operate this service line. Bryan Richard was added to our team in early December and we have made several other key hires. Bryan is a 20-year industry veteran who has successfully completed hundreds of degassing projects throughout the Gulf Coast. We are excited to have him on our team.
One of our recent degassing projects was completed in North Texas in January. Our Thermal Oxidizer used for this project is a 4,500 cfm, 6.8MM BTU unit capable of easily degassing tanks up to 270 ft. in diameter. Our Degassing and Tank Cleaning personnel mobilized into the refinery and successfully degassed a 70-ft sour naphtha tank under a nitrogen purge to 0% LEL and 0 ppm VOC in 44 hours. This project was completed sooner than previous tanks in similar service at this facility and significantly under budget.
The response from our customers interested in bundling this service to augment their tank cleaning efforts has been very positive. Most customers realize that in addition to aboveground storage tank degassing, we can also assist with other needs. Examples include reducing benzene NESHAP emissions to remain compliant with Title V and MSS permitting and vapor destruction during critical and planned turnarounds.
