Made up of State, County/City, & Private Redwoods
Redwood National and Humboldt State Parks Humboldt County's National Redwoods are also permitted and monitored by the National Headquarters in Crescent City. Previous shoots include Jurassic Park: The Lost World and a plethora of commercials. Humboldt County's State Parks have also been the home of many commericals (i.e. Bass Pro Shop, Chevy, Caduet, etc) as well as films like Star Wars: Return of the Jedi, The Tree of Life, and Disney's Soaring IMAX film. These mid county to southern county parks are permited through the Humboldt Redwoods State Park. Permits include cost of day rate and park monitor. | Caduet Commercial - |
County/City Redwoods include the City of Arcata, City of Eureka, City of Fortuna and Van Duzen County Park. Though the trees are usually a little smaller, these parks usually have a quicker turn around for permits, cost less than National and State Parks (City of Eureka Sequoia Park is Free!) and does not usually require a monitor. Many commercials, tv shows, and feature films have been shot in these types of parks. Private Redwoods stretch across Humboldt County and are often part of family ranches. Many residents have either already experienced a film production or would be thrilled to have a film or commercial shot on their property. Currently in Humboldt County, private property does not require a permit.
All the Redwoods in Humboldt County usually have accommodations and restaurants with in 15 minutes to a 45 minute drive to the Cities of Trinidad, Arcata, Eureka, Fortuna, and Ferndale.
