Greetings!

Welcome to our pre-Olympic supplier update.
Sometimes something happens, and businesses are unable to function. There are many reasons why this might happen. Last week workmen cut through some telecommunications cables, a few weeks ago Thames Water flooded the Underground. A telecommunications provider had to pay out 30,000,000 compensation when they failed to provide the service they promised. The payment did not include any income that their customers lost because they exclude that in their terms and conditions. You probably do the same.
Nearly every business relies on a supplier, yet many businesses often don't check their suppliers or the supply chain, because they expect to pass their loss to whomever they feel causes their loss. This is an expensive way of going about things, so we check supply chains for our clients. This often finds holes, and some suppliers steadfastly refuse to arrange appropriate insurance. However, we have a neat way to protect against even this eventuality, which ensures costs following losses can be kept within a pre-determined budget. So if you meet anyone that relies on others, especially online or in the hospitality business, "we'll happily review their business protection and continuity plans as a favour to you".

What the Hell? Roof collapse - images courtesy of the Evening Standard
A couple of weeks ago the roof of a house collapsed and took four neighbours' roofs with it. Everyone escaped unharmed yet the pile of rubble doesn't give many clues as to the real cause of the collapse. Early reports indicate that old age or extreme heat from our mini heatwave caused the collapse.
Read our blog which explains why it's highly unlikely that the home owner's insurance company will cover the cost. Find out who picks up the tab and why legal action is often the end result.
LinkedIn not alone in password theft shock
This served as a timely reminder for me to change mine. I like LinkedIn because it gives people the opportunity to find out about what we do when they want to, rather than when we are available. We also like to look for suppliers and contacts. We keep some of our favourite testimonials here.

Recent concerns of clients that work online includes hackers trying to get at passwords or confidential information, loss of business due to cyber attacks and damage to reputation when web presence is compromised or websites taken offline.
