This weekend's Social Media 101... Pinterest is gaining more traction than Google+ and faster. First of all, what is Pinterest? Pinterest essentially lets a user discover, bookmark (a.k.a., "pin") and organize images onto custom theme-based boards. Each image links back to the original website where it was found. Users can follow a specific board or all boards of another Pinterest user.Like other social media, you get to share your ideas and inspire your audience. More importantly, you get to share a visual aspect of your business. And we know what a picture is worth! Best of all, when you pin from your own website, it links back to your website! What should you pin? - Marketers: Informative infographics that support your work
- Website designers: Screenshots of interesting pages you've developed
- Real estate agents: Beautiful homes you've recently sold
- Other: Photos of clients you've helped to achieve their goals, photos of you speaking at events, business books you're reading, inspiring quotes, exclusive content such as your presentation slides or video clips, images from (and that link to) your blog posts
.
Don't discard Pinterest as another passing fad. It's easy, it's quick, and it's very effective.
