Call for Manuscripts - CrossLink's 2012 Publishing Schedule
CrossLink is currently evaluating manuscripts to complete its 2012 publishing schedule. Interested authors can apply and upload manuscripts online to be considered..
About CrossLink Publishing
CrossLink is a small royalty-based publisher of Christian books with an emphasis on small group studies, meditations, and thematic materials. CrossLink publishes about a dozen books per year and is an Ingram distribution partner, the world's largest book distribution company. The Ingram Distribution Channel includes Amazon, Barnes and Noble, Baker & Taylor, NACSCORP, Adlibris and others, including over 30,000 wholesalers, retailers, and booksellers worldwide.
Books published by CrossLink will include an ISBN, a professionally designed cover, a professionally formatted interior, eBook conversion to over 9 major eBook formats, and digital distribution to iPad iBooks, Amazon Kindle, Sony e-Reader, Barnes and Nobel Nook, Google eBooks and more. CrossLink employs 2 different publishing models depending on its market analysis of the material and experience of the author. For books where sales are projected to exceed 1000 copies within the first 18 months, CrossLink will use the traditional print run process where books are printed in batches of 800 - 2000. For books with a more limited market footprint, CrossLink will print and ship the books within 1 business day of receiving the order. In either case, CrossLink pays author royalties of 10% of the retail price of books sold through the distribution network or purchased directly by the author. Retail price is based upon a cost-recovery model; typical retail pricing for a 230 page book is $14.95 with a market price of $10.50 and a wholesale price of $6.73. Why CrossLink? As a small publisher CrossLink offers some advantages and disadvantages to authors seeking a publisher. Since it is a small company, it can be flexible and responsive to authors' needs. Typical turnaround time from receipt of manuscript to a publishing decision is 5 - 7 business days; time to publish averages 3 - 5 months. Also CrossLink pays the highest royalties of any traditional publishing company - 10% of retail price. Other companies may mention higher percentages, but they are typically based on net profits after expenses. For example, while books will wholesale at a 55% discount, CrossLink will still pay royalties based upon the retail price - a practice unique in the industry. In addition, CrossLink places no limitations on quantities or disposition of books sold to authors. Authors purchase their books at a 55% discount and receive royalties on all books they purchase - another practice unique to CrossLink. Authors are updated throughout the publishing process and have significant input on cover design and interior formatting and edits. After the publishing date, authors have access to a custom online portal where they can see sales month by month. Finally, as you can see from this information, CrossLink is very transparent about its businesses processes ... no other company shares as much about its business plan or is as open about its approach to publishing. Trust is a critical component in our success. One disadvantage of working with a small publishing company is the lack of large capital reserves to commit to marketing. CrossLink does not pay marketing firms to advertise or promote its books and does not attend major book conventions to sell books. Authors must have specific marketing and promotion plans that demonstrate a passion for selling their book. Authors without the time or outlet to engage in these efforts are encouraged to employ a marketing firm for at least 12 months to assist them. |

MinisterVery passionate preacher looking for a church to lead while becoming active in the community. Searching for a long-term position. God has always used me in planting and healing positions within the church. Most churches I have accepted were going through major issues and need someone strong enough to deal with them. I am a very strong preacher that has a history of reaching the lost and moving churches to the next level. Consistently grows churches to larger size. Not wrapped up in traditions of the church, instead, focused on love and understanding. James Davis75 Webber Ave Lewiston, ME 04240 jimdavis30@hotmail.com |
