CCC logo Hamilton Chamber hosting Canadian Chamber of Commerce annual conference

The Hamilton Chamber is proud to be hosting this year's Canadian Chamber of Commerce Annual General Meeting (conference) and the Chamber of Commerce Executives of Canada conference.  These meetings will be held in Hamilton starting tomorrow, September 20 and continue through to September 25, and provide us with the opportunity to tell Hamilton's business story and showcase our great city. Please log onto our conference micro-site (hamiltonccc2012.ca) for updates leading to the conferences as well as the Canadian Chamber site (chamber.ca).

Delegates from across the country - businesspeople, government ministers, media and Chamber executives - will be experiencing our warm hospitality.  Business meetings will take place at both the Hamilton Convention Centre and the Sheraton Hamilton hotel.  Delegates will also explore the Art Gallery of Hamilton, Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, LIUNA Station, downtown restaurants and spousal tours will take in the west harbour, Dundurn Castle, Royal Botanical Gardens, Battlefield House, Puddicombe Winery and more.   We encourage our members to consider attending either all or part of the conference, such as our Hamilton Night that we will host on September 23 at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum.  Please call the Hamilton Chamber office with any questions you may have about these conferences. The Hamilton Chamber would like to thank our members who have invested in sponsorships for the conference - they are acknowledged on the hamiltonccc2012.ca website.

Members making news

High school students considering an engineering degree at McMaster University have a new way to immerse themselves online in student life and their chosen profession.

Hamilton Chamber members McMaster University's Faculty of Engineering and Double Barrel Studios are proud to announce the launch of ExploreMcMaster.com - an interactive 360 degree panoramic microsite combining photography, video, music and soundscapes.

In concert with Helios Design Labs of Toronto, ExploreMcMaster.com represents an innovative initiative in the higher education market. The site goes far beyond just text, hyperlinks and images. Through a series of 26 embedded video vignettes and mini-documentaries, ExploreMcMaster.com enables potential students to meet faculty members and student leaders, look into the university's facilities, and get a feel for undergraduate life on campus.
"Truly a breakthrough in recruitment outreach, this new communication style allows McMaster's Faculty of Engineering to speak to the next generation of engineers in an engaging interface they are comfortable with" says Lucy Sheung, Manager of Outreach and Enrolment.  "Engineering at McMaster constantly looks for new and modern ways to reach out to its audience.  We are confident in the professional knowledge and experience of Double Barrel, and decided to pioneer this unique online presentation.  Our prospective students have used computers all of their lives. So for them, the site functions as an online lab, furthering our tradition of experiential education."
