Incite Foundation supports the arts in Hamilton
Incite Foundation for the Arts is pleased to announce a donation of $50,000 to the Hamilton Philharmonic Orchestra (HPO) Matching Fund. Other HPO supporters have pledged to contribute up to $100,000 to the Orchestra, giving a total of $150,000 in matching funds available to complement community donations.
"Incite's donation to the HPO's matching funds program will help ensure the financial health of the HPO, and will enable the Orchestra to focus on developing strong programming to serve the needs of the community. A strong cultural life is an essential part of the economic development of the city, and our universities, businesses and medical organizations need a rich environment if they are to excel," said Carl Turkstra, Incite founder.
"As its name implies, the mission of Incite is to provide direct support to the arts, stimulate interest in the arts and to incite others to do the same," added Wally Pieczonka, a member of the Incite Advisory Committee. The Incite Foundation for the Arts is a non-profit organization formed in 2011 to provide funding to charitable arts organizations in the Hamilton area. The Foundation has been funded with generous seed money from private sources.
Over the past year, Incite has donated over $160,000 to fifteen Hamilton area organizations including the HPO, Opera Hamilton, the Art Gallery of Hamilton, the Hamilton Wentworth District School Board, the Hamilton Catholic District School Board, the Royal Botanical Gardens, the Dundas Valley School of Art, and the Bach Elgar Choir. For further information regarding the Incite Foundation for the Arts or to make a donation to the Foundation, please contact Liz Stirling at 905-648-7849, lizstirling@cogeco.ca. |
