Hamilton Chamber's Panorama supplement in today's Hamilton Spectator

Look for the Hamilton Chamber's Panorama insert in today's (July 4) The Hamilton Spectator's Hamilton Business Magazine. This month'sHam Spec Bus edition includes an article entitled "Innovations in Healthcare - The eHealth Landscape" - written by Doug Ward, a member of the Chamber's Innovation and Technology Committee; an update from Hamilton HIVE, written by Ryan Moran and a report about the Chamber's Renew Hamilton initiative, authored by Richard Allen.  Panorama also provides an update on the June activities of our Divisions and Committees, welcomes new members who joined the Chamber in June and introduces a new program with Localwork.ca to help connect employers and job-seekers.

Launch of Free Workplace ESL - Global Experience at Work

The Hamilton Chamber of Commerce in partnership with St. Charles Adult & Continuing Education has launched the new Workplace ESL program. This is a free service for local employers to help increase the retention rate of recently hired newcomers in the Canadian workplace. This new program adds to other free human resource services offered through the "Diversity Works", program of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce.

Employers who have hired Foreign Trained Workers can benefit by registering their workers in our program's Free English Classes to enhance their communication skills. Training can be offered by Professional ESL trainer at the employer's workplace or at one of St. Charles training centers. This program will help newcomer workers' productivity by improving their workplace language skills, job proficiency, communication proficiency and boost their confidence.

Diversity Works is part of the Global Experience @ Work (GE@W) initiative. Through GE@W, the Ontario Chamber of Commerce has supported over 20 community projects led by local chambers of commerce and boards of trade throughout the province to better integrate foreign trained professionals into the labour force by connecting workers and potential employers. For more information contact: Maher Hamade, Project Manager at: (905) 522-1151, ext.230, email: [email protected] or Monique Van der Leden at (905) 577.0555, email: [email protected]
