Hamilton Chamber working on your behalf

The Hamilton Chamber hosted the first task force meeting on June 26 regarding the City's refreshment vehicle by-law.  The establishment of the task force came out of a meeting facilitated by the Hamilton Chamber on May 31 regarding the proposed changes to the Refreshment Vehicle by-law.  The group, comprising representatives of restaurants, refreshment vehicles, BIAs and the Ontario Restaurant, Motel and Hotel Association discussed areas of concern and issues that impact both restaurants and refreshment vehicles.  The task force will continue to meet to discuss and propose solutions to issues so that entrepreneurship and innovation continues to thrive in Hamilton.

Last Thursday June 21, the Glanbrook Division hosted a special evening meeting for the local business and resident community to discuss transportation in Glanbrook.  The Chamber would like to thank staff from the City of Hamilton, Guy Paparella and Andy McLaughlin for attending and providing a presentation about transportation related planning for both people and goods movement.
Also last Thursday June 21, the Hamilton Chamber hosted Hamilton Police Chief Glenn De Caire. The Chief discussed strategic safety initiatives and the positive effect on our economy.  The event included members of the Chamber's Connections Committee and was chaired by Vicky Conner, Chair of Connections.

On Wednesday June 20, representatives from the City's Planning and Economic Development Division attended the Young Entrepreneurs and Professionals Division meeting to provide a briefing on the services provided by the Small Business Enterprise Centre (SBEC), the City's One Stop Shop service and an overview of the City's Open for Business Review.  The Hamilton Chamber would like to thank Kristen Huigenbos, Debbie Spence and Shannah Evans for attending the meeting and sharing key information.

On Thursday June 14, the Hamilton Chamber, under the Renew Hamilton initiative, hosted the first "Conversations with Christopher Hume" dinner.  The audio recording from the evening is available on the Renew Hamilton website at http://renewhamilton.ca/latest-updates/speaker-series-podcast/
