Hamilton Chamber - Policy Updates:   

 

The four policy priorities for the Hamilton Chamber this year are:

  • Mass Transit
    • All day, two-way GO Train Service to Toronto
    • Development of LRT in Hamilton
  • Fair Taxation
  • Strong voice at Queen's Park
  • Creation of an arms-length land development corporation

Ready, Set....Go! Several members of the Hamilton Chamber of Commerce's YEP Hamilton Division have signed up to run the Around the Bay Road Race on March 25, 2012. YEP Hamilton's goal is to encourage all professionals to become more active, to experience downtown Hamilton in a different way and to help support St. Joseph's Healthcare foundation by raising $10,000 as a team!  The $10,000 will go to help support St. Joseph's new surgical centre, the redevelopment of their new mental health and healthcare facility on West 5th, and advancing medicine through important research. 


YEP Hamilton welcomes all chamber members to join the team in any of the 5km, 10km relay or 30km races. Please

Previous Meetings:

 

Glanbrook: The Division met on January 19th.  Guest Speaker Toni Sergi from the City of Hamilton gave an update on the Red Hill Business Park.

 

Dundas: The Dundas Division also met on January 19th.  Their guest speaker was Dr. Jerry Morris of Paramount Family Chiropractic, who spoke on the 100-year lifestyle.


Upcoming meetings:
 

Human Resources: The committee extends an invitation to all Chamber members to attend the February 1 meeting featuring guest speaker Theresa O'Halloran-Manager. Leadership Development & Planning, ArcelorMittal Dofasco Human Resources who will be presenting on Performance Management. The meeting will be held at the Waterfront Centre. The session will address a step-by-step plan for implementing world-class performance management. This will include the importance of a performance management system, and the steps needed to develop a solid program (from building the foundation through to building accountability into the system).

Hamilton Community Awards

 

garyWe are pleased to announce that Gary Graham of Gowlings is this year's RBC Hamilton Citizen of the Year and Daniel Mariella of Cardinal Newman Secondary School is The Hamilton Spectator Youth Volunteer of the Year. Both Gary and Daniel were acknowledged this past Monday evening at a gala dinner hosted at Michelangelo's Banquet Centre. The Chamber would like to congratulate all nominees for this year's Hamilton Community Awards. New! Coffee with Chamber CEO and Guest: Friday February 10

 

Come out to this casual session, which will take place the second Friday of the month from 8-9am at the Mulberry Café on James Street North. The first session will take place Friday February 10. The coffee session will feature an update and Q&A on Chamber activities as well as a different guest from the Hamilton business community each month. We are pleased to announce our first guest will be Paul Berton, Editor-in-Chief of The Hamilton Spectator. Watch twitter (@hamiltonchamber) and Pipeline for updates.
