Dear Friends of BHGH,
It has been an exciting time for our organization! A new Girls Hope House is located on Fleetwood Avenue, 1 and 1/2 blocks from our Boys House. When Kristy Norbert, Program Director, joined the Boys Hope Girls Hope staff last year, she asked "Why don't we have a Girls' House?" Working hand-in-hand with the Boys Hope staff and scholars, she prepared a video application for ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition, asking them if they would come to Baltimore and build a Girls House. On July 9, they surprised everyone in the Inner Harbor and with the help of thousands of volunteers, a Girls House was built in 9 days. Boys Hope Girls Hope was featured on ABC's Season Premiere of Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and if you missed it,and would like to read a recap of the show, please follow this link to learn more. Without any government funding, Boys Hope Girls Hope relies on the generosity of community members, organizations and businesses that understand and support our mission by investing in our youth. Our board member, Andy Hilger, created a video that demonstrates this beautifully and I encourage you to take a look at his work.
During this holiday season, we thank all of our friends who reach out to our Boys Hope Girls Hope family throughout the year, supporting us in so many ways. Your help allows our staff to concentrate on working with our scholars and collegians, supporting their hopes and dreams.
In our newsletter you will find updates on our scholars and collegians and can celebrate their successes with us!
Finally, we are excited to let you know that our BHGH offices have moved closer to the Boys and Girls houses. We thank Larry Jennings who has provided us with administrative offices for the past 10 years!! And now much thanks to Slavie Federal Savings who has welcomed us into their facility.

Meet LaSha', a Girls Hope Scholar
Before LaSha', a junior at Cristo Rey, joined Boys Hope Girls Hope, she says that when it came to school work she often pushed things aside. She even described herself as a former slacker. That was then, but now she says this program has made her the student she needs to be in school. The staff at the Girls house is always there for her so she can get the help that she needs.
