AnnouncementSeptember 13, 2012
Greetings!

The National Organic Program (NOP) is pleased to announce an updated fact sheet on labeling organic products.

Additionally, if you are going to Natural Products Expo East, we hope you will stop by our booth and say hello!

Labeling Organic Products

A majority of the compliance and enforcement cases we close involve product labeling. To support proactive compliance, we have updated our labeling fact sheet to lay out the rules of the road for both certified and uncertified operations. It includes:

  • When the USDA organic seal may be used.
  • When and how the word "organic" may be used.
  • Which products must be overseen by a certifying agent.
