environmental factors contributing to the disease are not well known. Cincinnati-based researchers now report new evidence that exposure to three types of mold during infancy may have a direct link to asthma development during childhood.
These forms of mold -- Aspergillus ochraceus, Aspergillus unguis and Penicillium variabile -- are typically found growing in water-damaged homes, putting a spotlight on the importance of mold remediation for public health.

HEALTH officials are frantically searching for the source of a fresh wave of legionnaire's disease today, as 15 people are hospitalised - with two in a critical condition.
The Health Protection Agency (HPA) said all of those affected in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire, are aged between their late 40s and mid-70s.
The number of confirmed cases has been steadily rising since news of the outbreak on Tuesday.
Two of the patients are in a critical condition and are being treated in separate hospitals.

LA QUINTA--A woman in La Quinta says her apartment is toxic, black mold growing in the bathroom and closets. She's complained to her landlord since January but isn't getting any answers. So, she called KMIR6 news to investigate.
We went straight to the source to find answers. We spoke with the tenant and tried getting answers from the apartment manager but were turned away.
Bethany and her 2-year-old son were forced to move after they grew increasingly ill.
