A metal drain pan was used to collect condensate and hold dehumidification water for an HVAC unit that had corroded and in desperate need of repair. Water had been leaking into the AHU room floor causing slick conditions and a microbial nightmare. The pan was attached to a larger unit that would have been very costly to replace and would have required the removal of coil supports. The drain pan was rusted all the way through and the only option was to replace the entire AHU until they heard of PURE-Liner the drain pan protection system. Instead of replacing the AHU at a cost of tens of thousands of dollars the service team at Building Remediation Sciences resurfaced the existing pan with a flexible sheet membrane liner called PURE-Liner...

Keep Your Infant Healthy with "Test Your Nest Screen Check" (TYNSC) |
Home News | (TransWorldNews)
Before one can remove allergens and/or pollutants effectively, it is essential to understand if they exist, what they are and in what quantity. Now there's the do-it-yourself "Test Your Nest" Screen Check (TYNSC) is designed to sample the indoor air quality of your baby's bedroom identifying chemicals, formaldehyde, pollens, and molds, among others.
Indoor environmental screening of the home or work environment is important for individuals with allergies, chronic sinusitis, rhinitis, emphysema, asthma, atopic dermatitis, immune deficiencies, etc. Good indoor air quality is difficult to detect as you cannot see it. The newly bought three-bedroom house, which Walker said reeked unforgettably like...

Nebraska Nuns Sue Contractor After Mold Outbreak |
by GRANT SCHULTE | Associated Press
A Christian sisterhood that spent $15 million to renovate their Nebraska monastery says the contractor they hired overcharged them and performed shoddy ventilation work that spawned a mold outbreak.
Missionary Benedictine Sisters Inc. in Norfolk filed a lawsuit in federal court in Lincoln this week against the Appleton, Wis.-based Hoffman, LLC.
According to the lawsuit, Hoffman agreed in their 2007 contract to complete the design, engineering and construction work by May 2010. The sisters moved out to make way for the renovations, but when they came back in 2009, they noticed problems with the ventilation. The system failed to dehumidify the air, which spawned "significant amounts" of mold...

by JESSE YEATMAN, Staff writer
Heavy late-summer rains blamed for problem in St. Mary's College dormitories
St. Mary's College of Maryland began moving about 350 students out of two dormitories this week because of lingering mold problems following late summer's heavy rains. Some students will be temporarily housed in other areas on campus while more than 200 will stay in three off-campus hotels.
Chip Jackson, associate vice president for planning and facilities, said the college is working on a plan with construction contractors now for the mold remediation and said it would be "at least a couple weeks" before...
