According to CDC, each year an estimated 8,000-18,000 cases of Legionnaires' Disease occur in the U.S. with fatality rates between 5 to 40%. Of those who survive, there are often serious long term health consequences after recovery. Legionnaires' Disease is caused by the inhalation of aerosolized water contaminated with Legionella bacteria. It is an illness that is completely preventable provided routine monitoring and maintenance of potable water and cooling tower water systems are conducted.

Settlement is Largest Per-Unit Recovery in California History
SAN FRANCISCO--Owners of residences at a premiere San Francisco luxury condominium building have recouped $5.4 million in a landmark construction defect case that sets a state record for per-unit recovery. The 32-unit building, Chelsea Court, located at 851 Van Ness Avenue in San Francisco, recovered $5.4 million for claims related to shoddy workmanship and construction defects. The settlement was reached in mediation and the majority of it is being funded by insurance companies for the builder and thirteen subcontractors.

Mold Closes Wyoming State Hospital Building in Evanston |

Three CHEYENNE, Wyo. -- A building at the Wyoming State Hospital at Evanston has been closed due to air quality concerns that have arisen because of mold.
State Hospital Director Tom Forslund told the State Building Commission on Wednesday that the building is in the worst shape out of the five institutions overseen by the Wyoming Department of Health.
The commission approved $530,000 to assess the condition of all of the hospital's buildings.
The Health Department also oversees the Pioneer Home at Thermopolis, the Life Resource Center at Lander, the Veterans Home at Buffalo and the Retirement Center at Basin.

Mold Forces Students to Move Out of Dorms |

In an email to students, Goldwater and Jackson report that test conducted yesterday show the third floors of Prince George and Caroline Halls are not safe for students. Students residing in those halls will be required to move as well. 159 students in addition to the 191 students already being moved must leave.
